To help protect your account, we limit the amount of items purchased by a single account at any one time.
This buying limit is temporary. You can come back soon and buy more items. "
Now there are NO unpaid items. all items i bought are paid for. i have bid on 5 Items..god alone knows if i will win them or lose the bids to either Shill Bidding or fraud bidders.. in such a case i dont think its fair to place a limit on a buyer. its like ebay is underestimating a persons credit worthiness to pay for a product. my ICICI card gives me a limit of 100,000. my SBI card has a limit of 50,000, my ABN Amro debit card has a balance of rs. 4,50,000/- inspite of this its frustrating when i get this message everytime i bid. i guess ebay should place this limit wen a person has not paid for the items. and not wen a person has just bid on some items.
learned members of the community....what do u say.. am an old member....here...even though this id is just 20 days old..my first id had 95+ ratings!

You are taking this too personally. You wanted to discuss buyer limitations, than discuss those not personalities. IF you have any grouses against eBay other than stated, mail them via the contact us link.
1) Well, restrictions are placed by eBay based on a lot of research and I beleive 20 live bids is a good enough restriction.
2) You can buy as much as you want on the so called other id - which you are saying you have with 95 ratings (unless it has been suspended)
3) Well you are living in a dream world, if you expect N70 for 15K and Jasjars for 28 K 🙂
4) IF you type in all caps, it is akin to shouting in real world and I usually tend to ignore all posts written in all caps, so excuse me for not responding to the section written in all caps.
5) Whatever I mentioned here is in the public domain as experinced user can check the bidding / buying activities of any user. Just navigate the site you will be able to do the same. These details are required for sellers to check the bidding history of users and to maybe block non-serious bidders. These are tools made available by eBay to all users.
6) NO, I do not have acess to any personal details viz credit card, etc. Have no fear. Even most eBay staff do not have access to such information. eBay in India does not currently store CC details.
7) Why are you going on and on about my ratings or lack ot them. I have here to post my views and not advertise my buying / selling activities. As said before suffice it for your knowledge that I have enough buying / selling experince on eBay / baazee.
8) Once again, if you have an id with 95+ ratings why are you not using the same instead of this new id? I do not believe you need mulitple ids to buy.

Just for your information, the cheapest Jasjar sold on eBay.in in last 15 days was for Rs.34,000/-.
and Nokia N 70 for Rs.18,300/-.
This is just so that you can make informed bids.
:)

A seller should give the product to the winning bid and not the market price. Some bids will be above and some are below the market value.
Any member can check the bid history. But will not get full details.
Like if I have placed a bid on many product under same category, its easy to find who is biding most of the product. This needs much time and its hardly no use of it until its your product. This can't be done in private listings.
Also no member can get the Account Stats. Only you will get the other member information after commiting purchase or sale.
But after the transaction gets complete, any member can check your profile and can come to know what are all you have made transaction at ebay before.
Also don't worry on Cedit Card as eBay is a safe place and no member will get the details. ---------------

This thread has seen some really interesting and heated debate. I have some inputs regarding some points which I will like to share with you all.
Why is Buying Activity Limits placed on any user?
Many a times new buyers buy from a seller and do not end up paying. This results in a frustrating experience for sellers since they have to file UPI and also they loose fees that they have paid for features. Therefore buyer activity limits are one way that eBay helps sellers to minimise Unpaid Items. However, the goal of this policy is not to discourage legitimate purchases.
What are the criteria for imposing Buying limits?
A member may encounter a limit based on several factors including (but not limited to):
-Number of winning bids currently placed.
-Number of items won in a short time period.
-Rupee amount of winning bids currently placed.
-Rupee amount of items won in a short time period.
-Amount and rupee value of feedback the member has received for items won.
-Number of items for which the member has paid.
In short, the idea is to restrict buyers who might not end up paying for the items they have bid for. eBay will not like to block genuine buyers, however the decision to apply limits is based on substantial data analysis. The data showed us that, the possibility of a new user buying high number or value of items is extremely limited. If a buyer insists on doing the same, then there is a good possibility that the user does not intend to pay for the products, or even scarier thing is that his account might be misused by some other user.
I totally agree that at times it might hamper genuine purchase; however, the possibility of the same is really small.
How to avoid such limits?
One such way to avoid such limits is to get more feedback. If you have two ids, and one has lot of feedback, it makes more sense to use that id. Your positive ratings on your id is an assurance of your good behaviour on the site.
Is placing limits right?
Every decision will always have various implications and we can always debate it. Since we are a marketplace, it is always a challenge to balance requirement of various user groups, however we try to take decisions that we feel will benefit maximum number of users.
Is the bidding record posted by posting.id.in genuine? Will he have access to other critical information like your credit card?
Items by Bidder is publicly available data and you may find the same via Advanced Search >>> Items by Bidder (On left navigation bar). No user will have access to your personal details. eBay has strict policies that guard all user data. Only authorised eBay employees can access any sensitive data.
I hope I have been able to give you a view on why eBay has Buying activity limits on some users.
I will also like to bring up a point on courteous and respectful posting
I thoroughly enjoy debates, especially healthy ones. However, the basic of having a good debate is an open and respectful environment. I was troubled to see that this essential element seems to have fallen by the wayside.
We should all be able to have a discussion without attack. Debate can be conducted without insult. Frustration can be expressed without personalization. Interpersonal issues need to be worked out privately between the people involved, not on the boards. And feuds have no place on eBay.
Everybody who participates in a discussion will have some opinion about an issue, and no body will have an opinion without it having some merit to it. We need to recognize and respect that.
When we visited the boards for the first time, we probably stuck around, because we felt welcomed. We felt that we can openly discuss / debate an issue, and not fear retribution. We need to maintain the same sense of welcome and extend that to every other user. As the saying goes, "there's always time for courtesy", and everyone - everyone - deserves that.
Cheers!

Thanks for giving eBay viewpoint and information on Buying Limits. Some of the information was news for an experinced user like me too 🙂
I as a seller have faced a lot of frustration when the same user wins more than 1 auction of same products and wants to pay for the lowest bid and does not want to buy the other 2/3 auctions which he has won.
Hopefully with these buying limits such frustration will be limited.
I paticullarly like you sermon on courtesy. I fully agree that all postings the boards must be done with courtesy and respect.
I would also request you to lock this thread for further discussion as I beleive there is no further need for discussion on this topic.
