Dear members,
Here are the answers to some of the questions posted. Please go through the same and post further queries -
Q1) What are the changes needed from the seller?
The changes that you would need to make in your listing basis the new announcements are as follows -
1) Since returns section in listings will be disabled on Apr 29, 2013 it would be ideal if for new listings or while relists/revising existing listing, the return/warranty policy is not specified.
2) At the same time in the “listing description” section of item do not add any text related to returns policy. If you are revising or relisting your existing listings remove such sections as well.
For e.g. (illustrative not comprehensive) do not add text such as following in listing description
a) “Return & Exchange, Under any circumstances if you would like to return the product we will gladly take returns. Product returned within 30 days will get full refund. Product returned after 30 days are subjected to restocking fees, which can be waived if approved.”
b) “In case of returns you must contact us within 48 hours of receiving the item, so that we can process your return for money back, the Product must be returned within 14 days of receipt & it should not be altered, tempered & should be in original packaging. Return postage will be bear by the buyer on all returns.”
3) By Apr 29, 2013 there will be Warranty structure available as Item specifics. Please choose those to specify Warranty. An example of an item specific in one of the categories is shown below. The new warranty structure will become available similarly
4) Specifically taking an example of this item -
http://www.ebay.in/itm/121088157958
I. Firstly this is a great quality listings with
a. Multiple images of good quality available
b. Detailed technical specifications available in a well formatted manner
II. Your listing is covered under manufacture warranty by Phillips. Once the item specific is available you can add the details indicating the same
III. At the same time all purchases on eBay are subject to eBay Guarantee*. For e.g. if a buyer has a problem within 4 or 10 or 18 days from date of delivery they can raise an eBay Guarantee* claim. This will be settled in consultation with buyer and seller. Specifically; if you are in the position to help the buyer for Dead On Arrival cases the item would be returned. However if the item has technical problems which needs to be pointed out to the Manufacturer; the buyer is directed to the Manufacturer’s process. eBay Guarantee* currently follows this process; as technical defects of manufacturer warranty items is one of the conditions exempted for eBay Guarantee*.
Given this fact the following section is not needed and not entirely accurate “Dealer Warranty: This product comes with a fourteen (14) calendar day dealer warranty. In case of any defects, item must be shipped back to us using Registered Mail only within fourteen (14) calendar days of receipt. On receiving the item, the product will be checked and if the product is found defective, a full refund will be issued.”
Q2) in case of seller warranty they should provide free hand to seller. seller should have freedom to provide 1 day testing warranty or lifetime warranty on their own products.
Buyers trust eBay.in because of a consistent experience and a level of trust that has been established across years by sellers who have sold on the Marketplace and the programs that ebay.in runs. While the variety of sellers is what brings richness to the marketplace there is a benchmark of experience that needs to be delivered especially in an environment where the buyer has choices. Keeping these in mind eBay.in provides the assurance that allays the fears of the buyer in buying online on eBay from ANY seller which is why we believe that there are minimum standards that everyone on the marketplace adheres to. At the same time sellers are free to choose their warranty offerings ranging from “Manufacturer Warranty to “No Warranty” etc.
Q3) Auction related policies?
The buyer with feedback rating less than 10 must deposit 10% of bid amount with PAISAPAY. If they do not buy later on , the 10% is to be paid to seller for proce3ssing the entire auction. This is in light of many many non paying buyer situations.
Dear Sir,
Plz Confirm our Participation.
Seller auctions must be protected by taking the intiatives like 10% advance deposit by bidder . As the un-paid cases are very huge on ebay . Non qualified bidders be refunded automatically quickly after end of auction .
What policies or guideline are you all coming up for Ebay Auction ? Since Ebay takes its pie from the seller and even if the buyer is not paying for the item.
The current set of policy changes announced does not specifically cover any changes around auction listings. Thank you for the specific suggestions we will look in to it. However please do note that for Unpaid Items sellers can avail protection under http://pages.ebay.in/help/policies/unpaid-item.html. We will engage further around your suggestions around automation and making of this process smoother.
Q4) When sellers are selling products with very low profit margin how will they be paying for the reverse shipping in case of offering warranty ?
Sellers can offer a variety of warranty options to the buyer ranging from - ranging from Manufacturer warranty to No warranty etc. There are two cases of reverse shipping charges mentioned in the new changes.
1) Ebay Guarantee claims that results in Refund/Replacements within the 30 day period. For these there is a threshold rate above which the seller needs to bear the costs
2) Beyond 30 days a warranty claim may necessitate shipping of the product. In such cases the reverse shipping must be paid for by the seller only in case of ‘Seller Warranty products’. However sellers can list their products with a variety of options including “Manufacturer Warranty”, “No Warranty” or “Seller Warranty” etc. Hence sellers can opt for a warranty option they can fulfill at price points where it makes sense.
Q5) Specific eG cases
This forum is to discuss the general policies as opposed to specific cases. For specific case do reach out on insellerverification@ebay.com for further escalations
Q6) that there is going to be returns for all cases even if the item matches the description and buyer suddenly changes his mood after receiving the item, then this is not fair.”
eBay Guarantee does not cover buyer for change of mind and Buyer remorse. This part of the policy is not changing and hence buyers will not be entertained for such claims.
Q7) Further we also understand that if returns increases for our account, then PowerShip will no longer pay for return shipping completely is totally unfair for we sellers.
This policy does not refer to RTO rates under PowerShip program when eluding to return rates. 100% of RTOs on PowerShip shipments will continue to be borne by PowerShip. The return rate specified in the announcement refers to returns/replacements arising out of eG cases.
