Product and Fees Changes on eBay.in..Sellers - Happy or Unhappy?

Well I was
going through this announcement where I have seen various changes have done. But
when I saw Ebay wants Gallery and Listing Designer as chargeable I was really
unhappy. My fellow sellers what are your views about this ? R u Happy or Unhappy
? Do you think Gallery and Listing Designer need to be feesable to us ? My
views about Gallery And Listing Designer :

"UNHAPPY"

Reason : If
a seller is selling 2000 products will he choose gallery and listing designer on
1st April ? Answer is NO. Sales will go down. Fake buyers are in bulk in India.
Buyers are not in bulk and quantity of good buyers is very low.

I need my fellow
sellers views too. Plz reply to this thread with your views specifying the
reason . This change will be effective from 1st April,2006. Ebay - R u making
our April fool or what:-(:_|X-( ??

Hi ... how does it matter if i post from any of my id ...
Obviously whichever id i am logged on ... i would post from that ...
Anyways ... its not illegal anyway ...
Further me supporting or you not supporting does not make descision makers move,
If you'll think i am supporting this move as competition would be eliminated
Then the same logic applies to every seller ..
Competition of all hard working sellers will end and so its
A win win siituation

And how about switching from cream
which sells only once in 2 months to something
that sells daily ??
This move is particularly aimed for this kind of mentality ..
People list things which sell 1ce in 2 months ..
As everything is free :)

Product and Fees Changes on eBay.in..Sellers - Happy or Unhappy?

Dear cameras_n_such,

I don't think eBay will be out in loss for maintenance of servers.

Here few members compared to other eBay sites. Yes, its true. In other eBay sites the unpaid item process is low compared to eBay.in

Here all new sellers are not familiar with all the policies. Even you and me were not familiar when we are new to eBay (even after change over from baazee to eBay).

I support you for listing and gallery fees. But will we get atleast one sale per listing. The answer is NO.

Every product (expect Mobiles, Jewelery) will not sell every time.

If all listings are charged, a seller should put those costs on buyers to recover his investment will low profit and I don't need to tell you this as you are also a seller.

Example, A product which the price in the market is Rs.350

I get the product from my dealer for Rs.225/- and I sell them at Rs.300/-.

If all charges are included, then I should sell at Rs.350 + Delivery charges. So the buyer goes to his local market than coming to eBay.

Some times most saleable product doesn't get sold.

Paying Rs.500 - Rs.600 for Gallery is nothing if we get a profit of atleast Rs.3000 per month.

Also srjsms,

I can understand your sentiment, but I request you not to use racial words. This may insult others and you may pulled down by the eBay pinks.

We all are not here to fight each other. Everybody has the right to say their opinions.

I hope all will be in patience till the eBay will re-look this issue. ---------------

Navneeth.....sorry if u think i am racial.... its just that i hate it when people here instead of coming together to ward off this threat..act like agents of Ebay and support the fees. ebay just provides an interface to sell the products.. arent we entitled to atleast 10 fulfilled sales a week...??? or are we going to just pay ebay as if we are doing a charity business here.. if a seller lists 1000 different and unique products, that sell like hot cakes in the local market yet doesnt have a single sale. on ebay..but still gets charged listing fees and gallery fees 4 times a month....do u think it is sutainable...??? secondly this o.20 and o.25 listing fees seem like a small fee....yes its very small....but if this is not opposed tooth and nail..what prevents ebay from raising it..?? its like once a hotelier said... the pinch felt isnt very big...but it gives a foothold to pinch harder and harder till it bleeds... rememember everything in life starts small..but gets bigger and bigger..be it problems or happiness....?? same here..ebay is jsut applying Smart economics.....

jsut for information... e-com sites like these are proposed to be broguht under the tax scanners - VAT, Income tax, CST. not many of our sellers are VAT reigstered and not many pay income tax on profits here.. if a legislation is passed, requiring ebay to produce the AIR u/s 285 BA of the income tax Act, am sure most of the sellers will be bleeding to death..as the tax men would come after them..every transaction may have to compulsarily reported to the government....just like purchase of vehicles, land, houses, payment of CC bills above 2 lakhs a year.

Hello,

The discussion is getting hotter by the day.

The Sellers supporting the gallery fees are usually the ones who are well experienced, well established & with multiple ID's. They know how to earn money on ebay.

These Sellers know the site very well.

Now the problem is that ebay is getting in hundreds of New Sellers on site. This troubles the existing & established Sellers because with more Sellers on site, the Prices are coming down. So their monoply is at stake.

By favouring the gallery fees they would be able to supress the New inexperienced Sellers and would regain the monoply. The New Sellers wouldn't have enough courage to pay gallery / designer fee everytime and would get burntout in a couple of weeks.

There are number of Sellers here, who may have an experience of more than a year but are still in a learning stage. Working on ebay and learning all the ever changing Policies, violations & techniques is NO JOKE.

ebay has always supported LEVEL PLAYING FIELD for everyone. Thats the reason why ebay never allows to BLOCK Buyers with ZERO RATINGS. ebay says that one should never forget that .....one day we all were NEW and had ZERO RATING. So....may it be a TOP Seller or an in-experienced Seller....opportunities and environment should be same for one and all.

It would be like the RICH becoming more RICH & the POOR becoming more POOR.

The proposed fee would help Big players sell more & small players would see their Sales graph moving down.

Last but not the least, the members posting with different ID's must mention all their ID's as their Signatures.

Otherwise, it may be seen as an act to impress ebay that many members are in favour of the said TOPIC.

Product and Fees Changes on eBay.in..Sellers - Happy or Unhappy?

Hello,

I normally do not respond to others' post by I will make an exception here.

hello cameras and such....please tell me what items we shud list

Study the site, go to eBay pulse, subscribe to market research tools, check with proudcts are selling and list those.

Some low margin products such as mobiles are not meant to be sold online. Most low value mobiles are sold at a margin of Rs.100 - Rs.200/- in the offline market, you cannot sell online at such low margins.

u urself are charging fRs 499 for the card reader... whereas in the local Market it is available for 325/-

The cheapest card reader is being sold on eBay for Rs.265/- (including shipping) with free gifts thrown in. And I believe the seller is not making a loss and selling quite a few of these.. I may have a different product or may sell at a higher margin - which is for me to decide.

if ebay puts a listing fee of rs. 25/- per listing would u be ready to pay it..?

If I have a product which gives me a margin more than Rs.25/- after paying the FVF, I will pay the same. :). FYI, all my selling products are listed with ELs which cost a minimum of Rs.50/-. I even pay an EL charge of Rs.450/- on some of my listings.

t no doubt costs ebay to maintain servers, employ engineers, and list the products.. but there are several other sites whoz fees arent as steep as ebay - e.g ebid.net or even rediff auctions.

Rediff auction charges a minimum of Rs.35/- on every products sold. There is a listing fee of Rs.10/- on rediff auctions. What is ebid.net? There are fewer listing on us.ebid.net (approx 1,00,000) than on eBay.in (1,70,000) and if you consider eBay.com, there are more listings in one sub-category of eBay.com than whole of eBid. Don't you find it surprising that sellers are prepared to pay listing fees, gallery fees, store fees, higher fvf and still list on eBay but do not want to list on eBid? Infact one seller on eBay.com has half the listing of eBid.com

please my dear..tell me if therez any person who;d buy a mobile more frequently than 15 days..or even a simple tooth brush.

One shop in Mumbai (alfa) sells more than 100 mobiles a day. Every medical store sells dozens of toothbrushes everyday. Even eBay.in sells a mobile every 10 minutes or so.

i dont think any seller in India sells more thanRs. 100,000 worth of goods..

Rs.1 lakh sales makes one a silver power seller, Rs.4/- lakh a month makes a gold powerseller. There are quite a few gold powersellers in eBay.in :).

....first gallery fees, then listing fees, then 20% FVF fees, 3% paisa pay fees, and soo many other fees......unless u indulge in theft and selling of inferior quaity goods...the goods wudnt be attractive to a buyer...

FYI, the operating cost of an offline store like Shoppers Stop, Lifestlyle, etc. is over 25% ๐Ÿ™‚ The rent in a good mall in Mumbai is over 200 sq.ft. A 1000 feet store will have a rent of about Rs.2 lakhs. Are all these people theives or cheaters? All offline sellers also pay credit card acceptances fees (maybe a little lower, but they still pay). You sell on a platform if your business model permits you to. If it does not, move on, eBay.in is not the end of the world.

Umang.....u hit the nail on the head... soo rite u are about experienced sellers not wanting newer sellers..and wanting to wipe them out by wanting listing fees. As regards Argumeents of cameras and such firstly the bidding mentality of bidders in this site is that they buy the lowest priced items. secondly i never said that shoppers stop etc are thieves or frauds..please read my post again. what i said was sales here can improve only if the prices of products offered are less than those available in the offline Market. i know during the baazee days way back in 2000, 2001 etc u cud get an item for atleast 100 rupees less shipping charges included as compared to the offline market.

I may have a different product or may sell at a higher margin - which is for me to decide. well again ur twisitng words to serve your arguments.... what u sell..what price u sell it at is for you to decide absolutely... but as a buyer NO person wud be willing to pay a rupee more and wait for a week for the goods to arrive..which again most of the times either inferior quality or sometimes the goods never leave the premises of the seller as compared to the local market, where the delivery of goods and the quality is assured.

Don't you find it surprising that sellers are prepared to pay listing fees, gallery fees, store fees, higher fvf and still list on eBay but do not want to list on eBid? Infact one seller on eBay.com has half the listing of eBid.com it is not at all surpisng...since all those people who have been speaking for .com, seem to be comparing .com with .in yes on .com, where a good friend of mine is a dealer from UAE, he tells me every time more than 99.5% of sales are completed. how about in .in..? are even 50% completed..??

One shop in Mumbai (alfa) sells more than 100 mobiles a day. Every medical store sells dozens of toothbrushes everyday. Even eBay.in sells a mobile every 10 minutes or so. Yes they do sell....but in OFFLINE not online... and again not to the same consumer. secondly i dont think there are many repeat purchases.... online trading and e-com are based on trust n faith. i trust that a seller wud sell me the best quality goods and have faith that they will be delivered. since at the time of contract, i do not have an idea as regards the condition of the goods...unlike offline trade.. in such a scenario, it is very rare that a lets take for example SNrama - as a bidder..wudnt buy the same item over and over again on a daily basis.. so again my dear u havent understood my point! link the about 50% fulfilment with the listing fees... u;timately u wud end up paying more than what u wud earn.

as regards your comments about lifestyle or shoppers stop, the customers who visit there, do so coz of the prestige or snob value. these are people who wud be willing to pay even 100% more for the products they buy from shoppers stop. an ordinary middle class person wudnt dream of even venturing into shoppers stop, but wud rather buy from fashion street :^O or the crawford market..??

anyways Mr. cameras....i am not having a personal fight against you. its just that i feel .in is in a nascent stage and it is not advisable to impose additional fees, if e-com has to develop in india. building trust as regards e-com takes a whole lot of time.. hence unless there is atleast 90% fulfilment, which ebay cannot ensure, i am of the opinion that all additional fees should be kept on hold.
