@ Raj Jee- what "make good" to buyer will happen if sellers will stop accepting refunds.
Why beat bush instead of calling a spade a spade? banks are charging transaction fees for reverse transfers so passing on that burden to sellers. As simple as that.
I have examples right now sitting under my nose where buyer is saying things like- "I am not liking the item and I want refund" or is giving wrong address and after parcel's RTO'd back to us is asking to be delivered again to some different address.
And one last thing if eBay even starts giving buyers goodies for refunds than god save us. This is India everyone. [ Even adsense blocks Indian applicants for a cooling period of 6 months before even considering to look upon the request for opening a new account. 95% of applications originating from India are rejected at first shot. No brownie points for guessing why. ]
Till now we were gladly accepting return/ refunds for similar reasons taking them as part and parcels of online business. But why make selling even tougher by implementing such measures. Already in a refund seller has lost his shipping charge and almost his product which most of the times cannot be resold. and finally a final punch, a penalty.
No doubt this measure will punish sellers with dubious intentions who simply block buyer's money. But this will also be a curse on sellers whose intentions are always to serve customers diligently.
In last one year I have never seen many complains on forum against sellers for refunding amount after blocking it for long. Forum is no doubt filled with complain against GEB. If this policy is implemented it would be really interesting to see how many buyers get their coupons against GEB refunds. And if those coupons will be valid on all listings or only on GEB listings.
