I am Anil Shenoy, Manager – Marketplace Health for eBay India.

Under this role, my team is responsible for Site policies & implementing proactive programs to ensure eBay India remains fair & safe for our community members. Over the last 6 months we have made modifications to our site policies (eBay Guarantee*, Feedback removal, Seller protection & Acceptable Payments policy) and launched outreach programs to educate new sellers to deliver to a good experience to our buyers.

I will be present on the Community Boards for an Open House session on 1st August 2011, between 4 pm and 5 pm.

I will encourage you to post your thoughts, comments and suggestions on this thread.

I am looking forward towards this meeting and I hope to gather lot of useful feedback from you.

On checking with our eBay Guarantee* team, I've been informed that they did try contacting you via email and calls, however I do understand your concerns and hence we will have this investigated. Someone from our eBay Guarantee* team will get in touch with you at the earliest.

I also understand that there needs to be more awareness on the seller protection program and I'm happy to inform you that we have already started working on increasing awareness and making it easier for our sellers to get protected.

Confusing eBay policies.

If a buyer claims item as not received, what is a seller required to provide? Proof of Delivery OR Proof of Dispatch?

If information is trackable online, isnt Proof of Dispatch fine? This is commonsense. To get Proof of Delivery it takes lot of time from courier company.

And below link clearly talks about Proof of Dispatch if information is trackable online.

But eBay agents including paisapaypod@ebay.com keeps denying it. This is confusing and irritating policy knowing the limitation in getting signed delivery proof on time. Definitely not an encouraging sign to continue selling.

To clarify, by the mere fact that the buyer is not contactable, the feedback left by such buyers is unjust. Feedback will be reviewed basis several parameters post which we would remove the feedback rating.

Mr. Anil,

Would appreciate your take on the below scenarios which I am sure most of the sellers would face:

1. Shipping Timeline
Seller clearly mentions the handling time (5 biz days normally) and eBay allows 10 days for delivery.

Despite this many buyers threaten, complain and finally give negative/neutral feedback for delayed delivery. Here the committed shipment timeline is met but still seller is facing the heat for buyer not reading/understanding the shipment timeline mentioned in the listing.

2. Price of the product
Seller clearly lists the item with photo and description and then chooses a price that he can afford to sell. Buying or not at that price is purely due to buyer descrition. But buyers despite knowing the price purchase the item and then later complain saying price is high. And seller finally gets negative/netural despite buyer entering in to agreement of sale/purchase at the already quoted price. How far is this correct?

Would appreciate your views on the above 2 points.

My account( SRIRAMTK 24) was Supended & Paisapay account with 20,000/-put on hold with out prior Notice on 18-07-2011.I called the EbaY help line.they said as the account is under suspension they could be of any help & asked me to mail to inrswebhelp.I did the same after 2 days there was a response that due to Low compliance of rules No 9 account was suspended and said that this mssg will satisfy me and that is the maxiumum they could at their power.
While there was good selling ebay has encouraged and asked me to open a shopTKR OPTICALS,gave me a selling adviser & called me everyday.why not they bothered to call me while the account is in suspension and Resolve the matter at the earliest.I waited for 14 days until now there is no response from ebay.Is this the sort of business which ebay does? And on what basis the account was suspended I would like to know.I have provided all the invoices regarding the sale.
Due to this inconvenience not only me but also the buyer’s who have ordered could get their items and called me.I Told them that it is ebay who has suspended my account so that was the reason I could not send the items which have been ordered and it took 10 days for the ebay to credit their amounts in their respective accounts.
If at all any problem is there Why don’t you come up in front of the seller and Rectify it. I expect That you will give a light of hope in this matter and resolve at the earliest.
