Announcing launch of all new PaisaPay!

We are pleased to announce that starting the week of 3rd December 2007 we will be launching several enhancements to PaisaPay. These enhancements are aimed at making transacting on eBay even more safe, fun and providing our buyers with a delightful experience. New PaisaPay will provide a mechanism for the buyers and sellers to complete their PaisaPay transactions with ease and help our sellers increase their business on eBay.

The New PaisaPay flow:

Key Highlights:

1. Providing a delightful buyer experience: Buyers will now be able to use PaisaPay for fast, assured purchases or get their money back! In case the buyer does not receive the item purchased with the prescribed timelines, he will have the option to get a quick refund.

2. Uniform performance guidelines for Sellers: In new PaisaPay the sellers will have fixed timelines within which they need to ship and deliver the item. This will help in providing a standardised seller experience where sellers will have clear performance guidelines. In case a seller needs more time to ship or deliver the product, he can request the buyer for a time extension.

3. Easy tracking of shipments for both Buyers & Sellers: Sellers will be required to enter the shipping details in My PaisaPay within the prescribed timelines. This will give buyers and sellers a quick reference point to know the shipment status thereby resulting in smooth communication between buyers & sellers.

4. Easy Refund Mechanism:

a. In case the seller is not able to ship the item: Seller can easily issue a refund to the buyer by not entering the shipping details within the prescribed timelines. In such cases PaisaPay will automatically issue a refund to the buyer. The sellers no longer need to follow the offline process of contacting PaisaPay Customer Support for issuing refund.

b. In case the buyer does not receive the item: If the buyer has not received the item within the prescribed timelines he has the option to raise a refund claim. In case the seller has delivered the item he will have 5 days to dispute the buyer’s claim. In case of any dispute between the buyer and seller on item delivery, PaisaPay’s decision will be final.

5. Seller Remittance on Buyer Confirmation: PaisaPay shall remit the money to the seller as soon as the buyer confirms item receipt or does not raise a refund claim in the prescribed timelines. Certain Qualified sellers will be eligible for Express Remittance.

6. Express Remittance for Qualified sellers: Sellers who qualify for Express Remittance will have their individual Express Remittance limit. Please note that Express Remittance is a privilege for sellers with strong business and good behaviour history on eBay. The option to offer this privilege to sellers will be at the sole discretion of PaisaPay.

7. Online Remittance to replace Demand Drafts: PaisaPay will remit seller’s money online to his bank account instead of mailing demand drafts. This will save both the courier & encashment time for the sellers. It will also mean no more cases of lost demand drafts.

8. Twice a week remittance cycle: PaisaPay will now be sending money to sellers twice a week (bi-weekly basis) replacing the process of weekly remittance.

9. All new My PaisaPay: The new ‘My PaisaPay’ in “My eBay”, will give buyers & sellers an easier interface to communicate with each other and stay updated on transaction details.

10. PaisaPay Phone Support to be extended to all seven days of the week: PaisaPay phone support will be extended to all seven days of the week (from current five days a week) from the month of December 07.

11. PaisaPay becomes mandatory: All listings will automatically offer PaisaPay as a mode of payment. Sellers can also offer other mode of payments. Sellers with 20 or less listings will be able to offer PaisaPay as the only mode of payment. Read FAQ’s.

12. PaisaPay Invoice: To ease the process of reconciliation and accounting your PaisaPay transactions PaisaPay would be issuing a monthly Invoice to sellers.

13. eBay Buyer Protection remains the same: Buyers will continue to remain eligible for eBay Buyer Protection after time-out period. All other buyer protection features will remain the same. Read FAQ’s.

14. PaisaPay EMI Option: Sellers with 5 or more feedback will have the option to offer 3 and 6 month EMI in their listings, which can be availed by buyers paying via ICICI bank credit cards. Additional PaisaPay charges apply fro EMI transactions. Read FAQ’s

To avail the Enhanced PaisaPay facility from the week of December 3, 2007, all sellers will need to register again with PaisaPay and update their bank details here. We encourage you to update your details as soon as possible on this link. Read FAQ’s.

We understand that you might have questions to understand the changes better. Please feel free to read the FAQ’s, go through the details on this page and on the tutorial, contact our Customer Service team or post your questions on this thread.

We are very excited about these changes as we believe that this will help us in providing a high quality online shopping experience to our users and help in making eBay the favoured destination of online shoppers.

Regards,
The eBay Team

Hello

I think New Paisapay is good except for one thing. The Charge back where we have to provide POD within 5 days otherwise the money will be refunded.
We all know it is nearly impossible to arrange a POD within 5 days (including Holidays) in case of charge back.

The Paisapay remittance cycle will increased, but it is acceptable.

I have one suggestion, please give your opinions.

In case of charge back Paisapay should accept the PROOF OF DISPATCH (Shippers copy), supported by Online Tracking Status.

A few more suggestions. All out of free thinking:

1) Ebay (PaisaPay) should start cheque / dd collection (pick up service) and hold the amount in escrow till the buyer receives the product.

2) eBay should start all India COD by tying up with a good courier and credit the amount to sellers account only after delivery confirmation by courier (trackable online of course).

Let have much more payment options. Let us grow this business.

PaisaPay can of course charge the 4% plus tax for cheque / dd collection and Cash on Delivery services.

One Step further why bother with sellers having their own courier, why not PaisaPay tie up with a few courier and are arrange for shipping of the products.

Sellers can simply punch in the pick up details and the amount would be credited in their PaisaPay account. So no tension of providing POD, etc. All other sites operate this way. Why does ebay need more and more fees to do less and less work?

I.com, R.com. S.com and perhaps FB.com and HS.com, all work at approx 5% for Branded CE products inclusive of Gateway Charges. For this amount they provide complete phone support to buyers, total logistics solutions including COD and cheque / cash pickup to Vendors, full chargeback protection and what not.

For 5% FVF + 4% Gateway Fees, + Listing Fees + Listing Enhancement Charges, + Taxes, etc. all ebaY wants to provide is Escrow?

Hello,

I was trying to complete the new registration for PaisaPay. I have an account in Bank of India. Its in the list of Banks in the form. But in the city there is only Kolkata option. That too was not a problem as I have my account in Kolkata ( however, it will be a problem from those in other cities). But in Kolkata there is just one branch mentioned though Bank of India has dozens of branch in Kolkata. There is no measure to manually enter the branch details. So , I was unable to complete my new PaisaPay registration.
What should people like me do for PaisaPay now? Hope ebay will update their system with all the branches for the Banks mentioned in their list. I am sure that many other small and house-hold sellers will face similar problems for other Banks. Soumi

Hello,

The Bank list is incomplete as most of the branches are not included, also no reply received, re- my branch query.

My views for new paise pay as under please comment-

5% of the total shipments we dispatch are delivered but we don't receive any POD or tracking informations as most of them are delivered to remote places by two or three different couriers in 5-7 days.

To get refund,in some case buyer will sign POD in such a way that he can deny that the signature on POD as not his and will say itis never delivered to me than what?

Our money will be blocked with paise pay till the dispute gets resolved what if buyer never accepts his mistake.

I strongly think Ebay.in not going right way please take good sellers in confidence ask them the impact before doing major changes.

Too many charges, fees, unfair policies, listing fees, increased paise pay fees, taxes & now this new paise pay which is definately going to make sellers life more difficult and there will be one more work for us i.e.how to remove his money from paisepay every week.

Dear All,

While registering new PaisaPay.

If you have problem finding MICR code for your bank, branch please check from the following link from RBI.

http://rbidocs.rbi.org.in/rdocs/content/pdfs/68774.pdf

Please check your appropriate branch and enter details. For example Bangalore many branches, and out of that Jayanagar has 3 branches one in 7 block, 9th Block and just Jayanagar. So please check your exact branch and enter. There are two codes given the second one is MICR Code. Please check the top and find out which is MICR code.

Actually eBay added the bank and branch details throughly, it would have been easy if MICR code as well entered automatically, which saves 1000's of eBay user's time to find this detail.

Kind regards,
CoolBrasCo.

Hello,

The problem is not regarding wrong selection or MICR. Its because the list of Bank in the ebay form is grossly incomplete. As mentioned - Bank of Inda has only one Branch mentioned for whole India - Ruby Park Branch of Kolkata. Its not a big branch. Dont know how it can represent all branches of Bank of India in whole India. Similarly for Allahabad Bank I cant see many branches in Kolkata though these are computerised branches. I am almost sure that some branches of UBI is also missing.

Unless the branch name is matched with the MICR, the registration is not validated. So unless the branch name is in the list, putting the MICR does not help to get registered. Hope ebay will rectify this problem at the earliest as there is not much time left for the compulsory start of PaisaPay. Soumi

Hi,

Over the various posts, some concerns have been raised by you, and below is an attempt to address them one by one.

Before the answers, we want our seller community to be rest assured that you are as important and we value you as much as our buyer community. While the new system gets operationalized, we will be closely working with our sellers to ensure that any problem faced by our genuine sellers is addressed on priority basis. With the new system in place, if you as a seller face any problem, we will encourage you to reach us through the various channels like, account manager, phone support, customer support or mail to employees you know. We will always try to do our best to resolve your concerns.

I think another important point is that while buyer will have the ability to file for refund claim, the dispute process will not be a no question asked refund to buyer. The seller always has the option of disputing such claim by contacting PaisaPay within prescribed timelines. We would ensure that our dispute resolution mechanism will be fair for all parties concerned and based on evidence on record.

To address the various concerns you had:

1. If the PaisaPay amount is refunded to buyer, will PaisaPay charges be applicable?
No, if PaisaPay refunds the transaction to the buyer, PaisaPay charges will not be applicable for the transaction.

2. A buyer’s ability to file a dispute and close it once he gets an auto-refund
A buyer who is paying via PaisaPay will not be able to file an Item not received dispute if he has got a refund.

3. What is the Seller Protection available in case item is delayed in transit; item is lost in transit, or a buyer misuses the system to defraud a seller.

For Items delayed in transit: If there are a few cases where there is a delay in courier due to which the product did not reach the buyer and the buyer has opened a Refund Claim, the seller will be notified of such Refund Claim being opened and provide an opportunity of disputing such claim. In such cases we encourage the seller to contact PaisaPay, so that PaisaPay can investigate the case and help the genuine cases as and when required.

For items lost in transit: If an item is lost in transit, even today, the seller either replaces the product or refunds the money to the buyer. In such cases, the seller tries to receive money back from the courier company. If the item is lost in transit, then it will not be fair to hold on to buyer’s money, as it results in significant bad buyer experience and the possibility of his not coming back on eBay.

Buyer’s misuse of the system: In the rare event where the sellers feel that buyers are misusing the system, please communicate the same to the PaisaPay team. They will investigate the case to ensure that our sellers are protected. Just like we protect our sellers against any chargeback, we will continue to protect our sellers against the buyer misuse of the system.

4. What about products that require longer lead time to prepare?
We understand that there are a few products that require more time because they need to be customized to the buyer’s need. In such cases, we will encourage the sellers to mention the same in their listing and contact buyer for time extension. A seller can ask a maximum of up to 48 days for a national transaction and 62 days for an international transaction through time extension request.

The argument that I have heard from sellers is that the buyers take long to respond. However, based on the various buyer comments we hear, we believe that once a buyer has paid for the product, it is important for him to receive the product as soon as possible. If they are not able to receive the product in a reasonable time frame, it is better that they receive their money back so as to ensure that their experience is not compromised.

5. Issues with Proof of dispatch and Proof of delivery:
First of all, I want to clarify once again that a seller will be required to provide proof of delivery ONLY in the event when buyer raises an refund claim. A seller will not be required to give proof of delivery for each and every transaction.

Also, one of our learning from various buyer surveys is that using a good courier company for timely delivery can significantly help in increasing buyer satisfaction and therefore repeat buying. We will encourage our sellers to use reputed courier companies. These companies are not necessarily expensive. One such example is Speed post, which has a vast coverage and is yet competitively priced.

Proof of Dispatch / Providing Airway Bill Number
I am not sure I am able to understand the concerns regarding providing dispatch details. Whenever you courier anything, the courier company always provides you with an airway bill number which also serves as a tracking number.

Proof of Delivery:

However, just like sellers maintain proof of delivery to contest a chargeback, they will also need to provide the same to contest a Refund Claim. Online tracking will be accepted as long as you have provided a valid proof of dispatch. Please note that this process is same as in case of chargeback protection

6. Bank Account not available:
As we mentioned earlier, many bank branches are rapidly becoming NEFT enabled and we will soon be adding more branches to the PaisaPay list. Once we add more branches to increase the coverage, we will let our sellers know. Till then, please let us know the branch/bank/city you will want us to add.

Also, the MICR code is a double check to ensure that the right branch detail is mentioned by the seller, so that he does not miss out on the payments. the payment does not go to a wrong bank account. This is a one time effort which ensures money reaching safely in your bank account.

I hope the above clarifies some of the concerns raised by you. As I mentioned before, understand that it will take some time for our sellers to understand the new systems. We are always available to help you with any concerns you might have. Please do feel free to post more questions if any.

Regards,
Sapana

Announcing launch of all new PaisaPay!

I think it was really forced out of me. I was confused how to reply (I knew I had to) and eventually resorted to this form of expression.
I think most Sellers are concerned by the new PaisaPay changes but we need to convey our DISLIKE to the Country Manager (Rajan Mehra) himself; maybe write to him personally, all of us.

Sapnaji,

Do you know "Devesh Tanna ko gussa kyon aata hai"?

It when ppl. with limited knowledge try to give advice to veterans.

for e.g. i just read "One such example is Speed post, which has a vast coverage and is yet competitively priced."

For your knowledge:,

1) Speed Post services just 286 cities and towns against the 1500 major and minor cities and towns any decent courier would service.

2) Speed Post charges Rs.120/- for a parcel exceeding 500 gms for distance above 2000 kms. I just today paid Rs.120/- for a parcel weighing 508 gms. Speed Post requires every parcel to be stiched in cloth packing and preferrably sealed with wax which adds a minimum cost of Rs.40/-, add Rs.10/- for Acknowledgement Due (POD) taking the total to Rs.170/- My courier would have gladly delivered it for Rs.40/-, if the WB govt. did not require form 42.

Insurance by Speed Post is 6%. Most private insurers will not insure parcels sent by India Post. So insurance even on a mid value product of Rs.5000/- will cost Rs.300/-

You call this "vast coverage" and "competitively priced".

Do not mislead sellers!
