There are many reasons, why sellers are choosing to sell on their own website or through other websites.
in my opinion, professional sellers or sellers who earns bread & butter through their online business on eBay should have a alternative channel for sales, with out leaving eBay!!!
reasons-
1.sellers are not secured,they don't know when their account get suspended by ebay for what reason? Mysterious and unfortunate, not a longstanding business opportunity at ebay. It might be a place for new online sellers or those who want to learning/testing online selling (learning from mistakes) and temporary promotions of your products
2. Sellers are living in fear every day, who will give negative today and who will claim return / refund. even in the dream we see the negative symbols. (ebay don’t think that every body human beings, like Indian education system which is targeted for scores not for the quality. Who scores less can not live in the society)
But in alternative channels, Buyers could review the products & they can post their feedback to the sellers (most of the sites have this features) or they could able to review the products & give feedback about sellers on social media which a strong place where buyers interact openly.
3. Restrictions to sellers in the name of policy violations. A seller should have a law assistant to know all policies of eBay, which is a book of thousand pages. Am I right?

4. Limited payment options which leads portions of buyers only can buy through paisa pay. Buyers who don’t able to buy through paisapay will look for a alternative place to buy the stuff.
5.Delayed Remittance and mess up in Paisa pay COD making it not practical to offer it to ebay buyers (as per my experience). But those who can afford such delays could offer COD option but they will add the financial charges which leads hike the price further.
6.Heavy fees & charges compared to alternative channels. Selling in my category will cost me 10% add promotional fees, penalty charges, refund charges, etc… (ebay earns more than what we earn per transaction)
7, Ok, let them make more money… but will they offer equally great customer service to what they earn???
8, You can not cancel a order, if you can not ship the item due to buyer will buy from a remote village where they don’t have any courier service. You should ship it at 100% risk or else you will face problems with paisa pay Refund, Penalty, account restriction, negative feedbacks etc. So you don’t have any control on your business, your total control is with the Great Emperor … eBay!
9, The expectation of ebay buyers, especially who are new to online purchase are very high and impossible. They thought that we are machines behind the computer screen and item will be dropped in to their door once purchase the item on ebay!
10, eBay don’t know the burdens of shipping. Shipping of items in india is like great circus or like a gambling. But eBay or Buyers of ebay never think practical conditions in India and how the shipping companies operates in India. They expect a service like USA, but in practical even US companies can't met their standards as it is in USA.
11, The ebay system allows only products ready in stock to be shipped. So practically sellers could not sell if they don’t have it in stock. So it is not suitable for small & medium size business. Only big sellers who have built up a great stock only could satisfy this conditions. When you build up stock your operational cost would hike and you can not offer a competitive price with the market, unless other wise you are the major distributor or manufacturer.
all above is my personal opinion , but it may change from seller to seller. I am sorry to write this here , but this is the right time , i need to take a good strategy.
