Pricing Changes on eBay India

Together with you we have been pursuing the goal of growing the online shopping business in India. To do this we have been investing continuously, along with our seller-members, to achieve the common objective of buyer delight.

Changes in eBay Fees: Post discussions with our key sellers across categories and after understanding the commercial dynamics of the ‘supply-chain’ in various product categories, we have made changes to the eBay.in fee structure and these can be viewed on the announcement board.

I think this will increase price a lot & sale will automatically decrease. Ebay should have decrease fees to compit with other websites in market but it has done the opposite and increased the listing fees, FVF & paisapay fees. Which will increase price by 5 %.

Increased price = sales down

This is loss for both ebay & sellers.

We were expecting ebay fees will be come down. As on every product we earn 30-50 rs after lots of risk. And on other hand already ebay earns 10 times more than us. This is not justification to increase fees. Already sale is low and earning is low. And indian buyers always prefer to buy offline from stores instead of ebay. They come here to find cheaper products. We feel these changes will not work on ebay

Please consider this.

Wow .. This is a new Step of Ebay towards the Closure of Small Shop Owners ..

also ebay payment mechanism don't work well buyers are not able to pay in a month fifteen days we receive goods orders and for 15 days we won't receive any orders

Unfortunate to see these increase despite so much competition and other portals offering best services.
Probably time to revisit our option of ebay and divert more to other portals.

The basic bugs that have been reported 100 times have not been resolved. Customer service and T&S is full of canned responses and cant even apply logical thinking before answering.

First, you are not at all seller friendly. And above all these increased costs.

You cannot do business with higher costs. Even with competitive pricing, its becoming tough and the higher costs definitely will not allow us to give best price to customers. Will soon move out.

Will it not increase Product Prices?

This move is going to influence everyone. Buyers, Sellers and eBay.

Sellers will increase Prices to cover for the increased costs, Buyers will look for better deals elsewhere, Sellers will see a slow business. eBay will try to cover for the losses by increased fees, but in the long term there will be a catastrophic loss as sellers will turn to other e-Commerce platforms.

To sum up loss-loss situation for all.

To all buyers-

For 200 Rs you pay for a T-shirt , how much does the seller get-

You Paid- Rs 200
ebay FVF Charge- Rs 14
Amount left- Rs 186
Paisapay Charge- 4.5+10.33% Tax= 9 Rs

Seller gets- Rs 177

Seller has also to pay a monthly fees to maintain the store i.e- Rs 4000.

Seller lists 1000 items a month with 5 Days format and so relists every item 6 times a month.
Listing fees- 2500

Total Fixed Fees- 6500

Say if he sells 500 items a month.
Cost per item= Rs 13

So Seller is effectively getting Just Rs 164.
eBay takes 18% commission. Bravo

Dear Sir,

We are surprised to see that instead of reducing FVF for Jewellery category, Ebay has decided to increase the fee across the board. Since one year sale has drastically fall due to various reasons. Increase in FVF will further force a seller to increase the prices and it will be vicious circle. Ebay India should not compare awareness scenario with USA. Rather Ebay India should concentrate first on boosting the sale by supporting. I am of the opinion, in real gold jewellery FVF should be 1% because 5% to 7% fees are totally impractical.

Anyway, we can do nothing except writing. But decision of increasing Fees are absolutely impractical and will be a suicidal effect both for Ebay and Sellers.
