Dear All,

Hello,

Lets Learn from each other's expertise.
I am starting this thread where contributions from everybody is expected.
May it be the Champions of Baazee ERA OR the New Comers.
Helpful ebay Staff members too are requested to show their presence.

The purpose of this thread is to put forward your expertise / knowledge which you think would be helpful to other members.

It may be Tips .....which may help in Selling better.

It may be pointing out..... the best Courier Company for National Selling.

It may be the best email service available.

It may be something related to Computers, Windows, Anti-virus, Ad-ware, spy-ware.

It may be something which others shouldn't do .....unknowingly.

Anything which you think would be helpful to others.

Just don't think that a particular TIP is quite common ....there may be someone who might be benefitted out of that.

MY CONTRIBUTION

I am giving you a small TIP ......many of you must be aware of this. But I still feel that there may be few who are un-aware of this.....

For All those who are using Windows XP and find that the system takes too long to BOOT UP.
Also, when you shut down ....the system takes time.
This may be due to many Items place in the start up.
That is..... many icons placed at the right hand bottom........ near the clock.
Icons of skype, Blinking net connection, webshots, Anti-virus, Bit meter, fax, MSN messanger...etc etc..
This slows down the machine quite a lot.
There may be many, who have higher configuration with higher RAM, but still the TIP may be useful.

Just HIBERNATE the system while closing.
For this.... Click start
Click...Turn off Computer.
Press SHIFT.
The Standby button would change to Hibernate.
Keeping the shift pressed ...left click HIBERNATE.

This will save your current desktop state to your hard disk so that you can resume where you left off, than shuts down your computer.

HOPING TO SEE MORE TIPS ON THIS THREAD.

regards

Dear techchase & Amitava,

yes, its true that one can get the parcel insured for Speedpost.

India Post charges 6% of the value.

Regarding maximum weight ....its 35 kg..... but most of the post office has an electronic machine which weight upto 20 kg only. Thats the reason their staff at local P.O directs you to go to the Main Post Office.

Umang,
Are you based in Delhi?I shall go to Delhi in June.If you are there,I can meet you.I have upgraded my shop. But I dont know how to use the tools.eBay is giving me,so I thought I should give back something by money,by upgradation. But now they say they are giving some tools. These gadgets are hebrew tom me.I dont know the use of turbo lister. But I dont need that.
I never targetted sale.I wanted to satisfy my ego, thats all.Just now I received a call from a lady from Haryana. She talked for half an hour over phone.I like that more than money.
I am still of the opinion that that eBay should have a 'TOP ITEMS' category. Some Items I only sell.I could have highlighted them.
Thanx,,Truly,,

Hi there,

i feel that 6% insurance is very high. Wht about the rates. Are the reasonable as compared to the local couriers.

For local shipping of jewellery whcih is better

IPS (INDIAN POSTAL SERVICE)
or
Couriers (Bluedart ...etc)

Dear Amitava,

You are most welcome to visit my place in june.

Do let me know about your programme.

Further, upgrading with time is the best policy.

Its true that money is not everything but you have to remain tuned to the latest technology and advancements.

One cannot think of using typewriter in the age of computers.

So... the best policy is to go on upgrading as per your convenience.

All ebay tools are user friendly and you won't face any problem .....mastering them.

Dear techchase,

Yes ... 6% is quite expensive.

I use SpeedPost for most of my International Shipping.

I never had a problem.

I never got it insured.

The packets reached well in time.

I haven't used SpeedPost for local shipping.

I think the only disadvantage with SpeedPost over Private Courier Company is that .... the follow-up with SpeedPost would be too difficult in case the parcel gets misplaced.

In contrast you can always catch hold of Private Courier Agents over the Phone.

Hi indconcepts,
You are right about domestic shipping.Get doing it by a local courier. They get regular business and they,as private businessman ,will strive to give you best service.
Speed post also works well if you get done by an approved agent. They give good follow up.At least, you dont have to run to PO to ship and fight with the clerks.Fighting will be done by your agent. They are armed with the rule book.Just explain his rights by translating from english.
It is true that insurance is not necessary.Once out of India, they are safe.Even shipment to Asian countries like Srilanka is safe.Just track it upto airport thats all.
But speedpost is losing its speed.Shipping to US was taking 3 days. Now it takes 7/8 days.

Hi Umang Midha,
Would you mind elaborating on the policy of listing in multiple ebay sites?
Say I list a Carnelian cab in India,US, UK, Belgium, Germany,Australia and Malayasia.Wil ebay pull down my listing?
I think not because in my Indian store I list that free with 3 pics.In other sites I pay for listing. One gallery listing with a pic cost me about 7 bucks in other places.
What do you think?

Dear Amitava,

Do you mean ....pull down .... because of multiple listing policy of ebay.in ?

NO.......The policies are related to individual site only.

Just make sure that you comply with the policies of the specific site.

Lets learn from each other's expertise

Hi indconcepts,
I have two questions.
1.What are the advantages and disadvantages of verified and unverified PayPal?I can stll add PayPal to my other site listing even if that is unverified. No sell as yet on that account. So no question of withdrawal. Can I stll withdraw money in an unverified this thing if there be money?Let us assume there is 200$ in that unverified account right now.Can I purchase goodies from other sites with that buck?
2.On 1st of this month I saw the bill of my seller account to be around Rs1700.On second day I find that to be almost Rs3500.Now,I have upgraded my shop to featured shop.So another 1000 bucks on that account is just okay. But I think, they have added shop rent of ebay.co.uk in that.If that be the case, they will go on adding shop rent if I list in Australia, Italy,Belgium etc etc.I am not able to see that detail.I have clicked everywhere.May month billing it does not show.Normally I keep mum on such things because buying peace with money is just easier than to fight for it.I got full faith on ebay. But money matters are always a touchy thing even inside owns family.
You please suggest something as a friend on the second question.Do I end listing in other sites?...Ebay india is always cheaper, except for the feature plus listing, which does not work as it should. The promised international exposure it barely gives. My indian sales are very poor.I can list 10 items with that cost in other sites. The existing Rs15 listing is much much more efficient.
Best wishes,Thanx,
Truly,Amitava

Hi Umang Midha,
This is me again.I listed those about 15 items in shop format in UK.Do I end them or send them to auction format for a natural ending?I want a friendly suggestion.
Another thing I am seriously thinking.Since my Indian sales are poor and Italy shipping takes a long time, which site I should concentrate on?May be Australia? May be UK?What about the .com site /US?
You are an experienced seller.Thats why I am asking you.I want to concentrate on a cheap and fast selling site.
Please say without prejudice. We all love India but we basically belong to the world.Am I right?May be not.I want a suggestion,an honest one.
Thanx,
Truly,
