Closing down an option is not the solution. What we need to do is to identify the spammer and block him. By this method we will not be able to stop spamming 100% but at least we can reduce the number by 60% to 80%.

But today it has been made a shopping portal. Where there are either sellers or buyers? socialization betweeen people have ended on eBay. speceially in ebay.in.
the only thing responsible is the kind of publicity which is being done by ebay management. They are promoting eBay on the media as if it was any other shopping portal like tradus, rediff ot homeshop18. The USP of eBay which is community trading is being ignored.
Here is what i mean-
eBay .com ads -
1- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NejR88UuwJU&feature=related
2- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJmSP_jvNT0&feature=related
eBay .in ads-
1- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3EDnPqpvSA
2- http://www.youtube.com/user/eBaydotin#p/a/u/0/vCI0NhRJpc4
See the difference in involvement of community in .com's ad and potrayal of self centricity in .in's ad.

Reviving the community spirit is very important. That makes ebay different from others. eBay India is a good site. But pinks are nowhere to be seen nowadays. What happened?
Also I suggest ebay blog to be intrduced again. That helps to promote selling.
Thanx,
Truly,
Amitava

eBay india was promoting facebook pagebook like anything, had over 22K followers, every DOD was being lit up on the wall and even followers were being asked to put their personal pics on the wall for some contest.
What made it all stop? Posting comment was blocked , DOD promotion stopped and whoa now the page is almost dead.
It took a little time but eventually I got to what happened.
With Publicity also comes negative publicity. People started crying in front of masses. Buyers started putting their problems in front of all . Item not received, refund not received, gifts not received. everything was there in front of potential buyers.
and DOD's - thats the mosts interesting part. every DOD was being put on wall for public scrutiny. 1- Sellers of same category were reducing price as soon as a DOD was up. 2- Informed buyers were informing others the actual value of the inflated DOD items. eg- Some Purifier was put on DOD for about 600 RS above it sells in Big Bazaar.
So it was decided people are smart and let them not interact with each other. As it will cause a common hysteria regarding eBay. So they started allowing discussion only in discussion boards( Which 90% people do not ever go to)...
And they let go of the media which entire world is catching upto these days.
Anyways it's interesting to just look recently updated 4 topics currently running live on discussion board-
"
1- Sleepy customer care
2- Ebay a cheater,,,ebay guarantee etc...
3- Ebay "Satisfaction guarantee program" a SHAM!!Fooling the customers...People dont fall for it
4-jasmine_collection FRAUD SELLER. BUYERS DUPED
"
( These are unedited top 4 topics currently live in facebook discussion board of ebay.in )
This speaks volume. People earlier were reading all this on wall, now the dirty linens are hidden in a closet.

They are just giving false promises to the buyers just to cross the time bound limit to make them safe and then they cheat the buyers by not fulfilling their promises of replacements of defective material supplied by them. The buyer have faith in them and they discourage them not to go for purchase online.
