Wrongful posting of "Unpaid Item"

I had puprchased an item from a seller new to Ebay with sero ratings. I made payment through online bank transfer within minutes of receiving the invoice.

I was shocked to get an "Unpaid" item notice from Ebay which went to the extent of saying "No action is being taken against your account at this time. However, it is important to remember that when you bid on or buy an item you are agreeing to a contract between you and the seller. If the situation isn't resolved within 7 days of this reminder, you may receive an Unpaid Item strike under eBay's Unpaid Item Policy."

I find this entirely arbitrary. In the present case, the payment HAD been made but the seller did not know HOW to verify that! After numerous exchange of mails / notifications, the seller has given a "POSITIVE" rating.

Ebay should have some method of stepping and solving these issues - they are not being paid the commission to stand by the sidelines and watch reputations being tarnished.

Hi!
Let me recount my recent experience with a U.S. seller of a mobile phone. In spite of listing his item for 'Worldwide' shipment, he declined to ship it to me in India as a general policy. Luckily for me, after having won the said item as a 'Buy it Now' order, my online payment transfer site did not link up for technical reasons and I was saved the consequent loss of a few thouand rupees! Strange enough, the seller only responded when I sent him a hard note later on. But unfortunately, I still received both the standard 'Unpaid Item Alert' as well as the 'Unpaid Item Strike'. Though resolved now between us and with help from Customer Support, the 'Alert' is still lying in 'My Messages' for no fault of mine and it seems that it cannot be removed by checking and deleting. My 'Watching's of items by *most* other international sellers are no better - they do not care to reply to questions at all, and avoid selling to Indian buyers. May I warn possible buyers to take note of this serious fact before bidding or buying items from abroad, especially from the more affluent and developed countries. Anyone of Ebay India reading this, please consider removal of such unjust alerts and warn unethical sellers to respect the free and transparent nature of the Ebay system for more buyer-seller comfort. Thanks.?:|

I wonder if you did enough 'research' about the sellers before making the purchase. I've bought books and CDs from ebay.com and ebay.co.uk. Both sellers had almost 100% positive feedback ratings and seemed to be reliable. I paid them through bidpay and got my items delivered in a couple of weeks.

One good way to avoid such experiences is to inquire the seller(s) about charges to ship the item(s) to your location in India, so that unfair UPIs are prevented.

I also had a similar problem, but I am the seller in this case. The buyer has paid the amount through PaisaPay (HDFC Online Bank Transfer) and I haven't got the payment, it was no there in the pending also. Then I made a phone call to the buyer and conformed that he has paid. I also contacted ebay and then came to know that PaisaPay has a tecnical errors in last 10-15 days.
