Item i received was significantly different from its description, hence i returned this item to seller on same day without waiting for opening a case(I think i am an idiot).
Thank God i got refund after completion of due date, but wait "i can't claim return shipping cost",as i got this information when i contacted to customer care for claiming this expense. He said its been two days since i won this claim, and i don't deserve any thing beyond item price.

welcome to the real world of eBay. Please do not buy anything costly from here. Atleast not anything above 500. If you do, make sure you don listen to "settling it directly with the seller", if you think it might take any more than 30 days. Most importantly, never ask for a replacement, always ask for a refund. If you really want to buy the item, talk to the seller and formally buy it through ebay again, after a refund. This is because, a replaced item does not carry eBay guarantee. Consider yourself lucky that your seller was straightforward enough to refund you atleast the original price.

Dear plsy2k,

I have responded to your concerns in the recent threads created by you. Since you have received the refund post our interaction with the seller, I trust this issue is now resolved upto your satisfaction.

For all your future transactions, we would urge you to contact your seller in case of any issues with respect to the functionality of the item. If you continue to face any problem, please report such cases to our eBay Guarantee* team.

Buyers have protection for 30 days and for all the transactions on eBay India. We understand that 30 days is a good enough period to check the functionality of the item and report any issues to eBay.

Regards
Seema

@seema,
the seller responded, but then thats not your work. eBay has no eligiblity whatsoever to claim the credit or speak as though the refund is a work of eBay. Your customer care executives blamed me for the situation I am in, washing off their responsibility in any form. I have not even received one single response from eBay team, dont you think it is really cheap of eBay to claim the credit of something that happened by sheer luck to which they had no interest resolving?

I was fortunate enough to have my seller respond favourably. If he had not, you would have done nothing at all, as you already proved by washing your hands off it, telling us your 30 days rule. Right now, I am not concerned about my experience with the camera, as it got resolved, by gods grace. My concern is the system of eBay, which has given me enough reasons, neevr to experiment on anything above Rs. 500

I agree that 30 days is good enough to check the functionality of a product. But often, 30 days is hardly enough to settle a dispute. Especially in valuable products like digital camera, where often times quality checks need to be determined, which may take time. Besides, if a replacement is ordered, it definitely takes double the time as for a single product. So I guess one cant 'believe' 30 days is enough. Such assumptions could prove costly for eBay in the form of negative feedback and publicity, as well as for the innocent customers, in the form of complete exposure to misuse by parties involved in the sales, and loss of large sums of money.

In my case 30 days of grace period is still active, but ebay closed this case without my consent and confirmation (Probably ebay wanted to avoid shipping cost), since i wanted to claim shipping cost that occurred for returning the item, even i scanned it and have saved to my computer for sending it to ebay on demand. Its sad that they are refusing to reimburse it and i found it unethical and unjust. What is the meaning of this Buyer's Protection?

I thought Seema is here to help me, but it seems she is busy arguing with whistle-blowers.

@ataur

I think you can try filing a claim, saying item not as described, please do it before 30 days are over.
