Seller cancelling bids just few hours before the end time

How is it that ebay allows sellers to cancell all bids and withdraw their products just a few hours before end time. This in regard to Item number: 160107932269. If the seller had some reserve price, then that should have been mentioned first like other sellers do. Just giving a reason that the seller has ended the bidding before end time and cancelled all the bids does not justify. If a buyer bids and is not able to make the payment on time, there is a dispute put up against him, then should the same not apply to the seller, who just withdraws the bidding a few hours before the end time

Dear hi2cloty,

A seller can end his listing any time (before 12hrs left by canceling the bids). Any seller can't go in a loss. But id the seller does this regularly, he/she might loose the reputation.

Reasons for ending listings early include:
* The item is no longer available for sale.
* There was an error in the starting price or reserve amount.
* There was an error in the listing.
* The item was lost or broken. ---------------

I Agree With The Buyer ... This Should Not Be Acceptable ... If One Is Not Strong Enough To Bear Loss , One Should Avoid Listing In Auction Format ... In Certain Circumstances , There Can Always Be An Error In Listing But Why Wait Till The 6th Day Then ??

hi hi2cloty, snrama and runalaila_in1,

I agree with all you folks that a seller closing item just to avoid a loss results in bad buyer experience. However, at times sellers do have genuine reasons to close the listing.

To ensure that genuine sellers have the ability to close listings for right reasons, this feature has been provided to the seller. However, we monitor such behaviour and if a seller does this consistently, it is counted as seller non performance and appropriate action is taken on the seller's account.

Same is applicable for a buyer. A buyer also has the ability to retract his bid for genuine reasons. However, if a buyer makes it a practice it results in bad seller experience. We monitor such buyers and take appropriate action against such buyers.

To summarise the above, the intention is to accomodate genuine reasons that a buyer or seller can have to withdraw from a transaction. However misuse of the feature is not acceptable.

Please feel free to write abck for further clarifications.

Regards,
Sapana
