Security alerts

Soon after Baazee became eBay, I started receiving some form of security alert, telling me to complete some process or other. Such alerts always carry the warning that my account will be suspended unless I follow instructions. But I can never do so, apparently due to some technical issue.

For one thing, the security check form is designed according to US standards and there sre many items which do not apply to me or to many other Indians. E.g., I have neither a PayPal account nor a credit card.

Are these alerts genuine or are they hacking attempts ?

Security alerts

You are right, these are hacking attempts. I get many of these mails myself.

These sites generally give you a link and on going there, you are asked to enter your username/password/credit card nos/Paypal details etc.

Never Never Ever give your personal account details to this site. They are not genuine and your details will be misused or sold.

These Phishers ( as these people are called ) mass mail to lakhs and lakhs of people. Many are not aware that this is a not genuine and end up giving all details, and hence land themselves in trouble.

All good sites, like Paypal, Foreign Banks etc, as a rule, will never ask you for your password and other details... So be careful.

Hi pimpom_in1,

Adding to sherlockholmes_in1 point, it will be a good idea to download eBay toolbar. This toolbar gives you a red alert whenever you are on a spoof site, thereby helping you protect your account. Besides you can also track your eBay activities with this free toolbar. The link for the same is: http://pages.ebay.in/ebay_toolbar/

Warm Regards
