I really appriciate that ebay india is doin a gr8 job by conducting such workshops. hope it should be really informative and helpfull. and since i have a option to post my question here i would do that and since i am the first to ask a question in this discussion page hope the respected manager would answer me ๐
Question: should i dare to sell anything else on ebay india?(please look into my experience and answer)
Y this question?:
I have sold some low value goods using my ebay account and i was impressed by the buyers responses. Unfortunately it created a gr8 impression about the ebay buyers, y i cal this an unfortunate thing because i listed my Nokia 5800 handset on auction and the winning bidder commited to buy for Rs.14300/- by bidding my item. Days passed after the auction and i got no reply from the buyer nor he paid for the item. and what i could see from my experience is that i am not the only seller who is wasting time. when i shared this matter to my friend who is also an ebay seller, told its really a common thing on ebay where a false buyer creates an account bid on something and off he goes without paying and it is a repeated experience to him according to my friend and a real pain to the seller.
so i decided to list it again without losing hope for Rs.13500/- (buy it now)so only real buyers can buy my stuff. no wat? my item sold within days(sold on 31/08/2009).. i was really happy on one side but i had a suspicion that the buyer could be some kind of a troublemaker, since he never asked any big questions about the second hand cellphone which was sold by an complete stranger for him before buying which costs some money too.
i couldnt take any chances, from his email id i could see that he was working in a reputed company(Logica) i said to myself "come on, he is working in a very good company which has branches all over the world and such people will not cheat" so my confidence level increased and i caled him and told him that i would ship the cellphone on the 1st september 2009 and he agreed.
but i couldnt take a chance, so wat i did was i called for an assistant who could video record the whole paking and shipping process, the cellphone was tested, packed, taken to the postoffice and was booked(Indian Speed Post) in front of the cam (it was a long video without break)and i got a receipt for the booking too, which too could be seen on the video (even the tracking number of the parcel). and i entered the shipping details on ebay the same day.
On the 3rd september 2009 the buyer called and told he got the packet and it could be seen on the Indian speed post website too that the parcel reached him on the 3rd september 2009, on the 14th september 2009 the buyer filed a refund request stating that he did not receive anything from me.
Ebay sent me a mail stating that it wanted me to submit a POD (proof of delivery) within 5 days or the money will be refunded to the buyer. I was shocked! i had to leave work early and went to Indian Speed Post business centre and requested them to give me in writing about the status of the parcel and they gave it to me stating that the packet reached the buyer on 3rd september 2009. I sent the scanned copy to ebay and called the customer care centre and told them my problem, the next day ebay sent me an email saying that the refund request was on hold.
I am really worried because its been 6days now(20th september 2009) from the buyer requested a refund and i have not heard a word from ebay about the status of the same. i request the Trust and Safety Manager to see to that sellers like me get a regular update of the case, i would request the Trust and Safety Manager to stand in my shoe and feel the pain, i have sent my mobile phone and my money too has not reached me.
After i get my money, i will take leagal action against the buyer no second thought. I will make him realise the pain and stress i fased because of him.
and i would appreciate if ebay can give some tips which would be useful for sellers on how to take leagel action against bad buyers too.
