Internet is the most popular tool for scammers nowadays; here are some common ways to cheat buyers in Online Trading.

Scammers here referred to any company or individual businessman who did not registered themselves with local government authorities in India, your business will not be protected by Indian government in case you deal with illegal sellers as individuals / companies. That is why you have to check out their entity identification before participation in trade with them.

1) Always Deal With Premium Sellers:

Yes, this is very important. Look everybody wants to make quick money. And in this age of scammers Famous B2B or B2C portals like EBAY etc provide the ideal hunting ground for people who want to make money without spending any. Always make sure your Seller is honest and genuine Supplier, more preferably a Power Seller [Prefer 2 or more years]. This does not guarantee risk free transactions but it reduces the chances of fraud.

2) Study the Seller's Profile

Make sure the seller you are dealing with, is an active user of EBAY with good trade record and has a complete profile. By that I mean he has a detailed introduction of his company / entity along with contact numbers and addresses. Also make sure he has professionally presented his credentials as a seller. Serious Sellers always work hard on the presentation of business identificatin.

3) Look for References

Ask the Seller for other Buyers he has worked with. Ask him for at least 3-4 online references that can endorse his credibility as a seller. Once he gives you some references, make sure you get in touch with them and ask for the details of their deals especially the modes of payment they adopted. Look Feedbacks but do not trust 100%.

4) Ask the EBAY OFFICIALS / EXPERTS

Yes, you can do that as well. Ask the fraud departments of EBAY to give you their view of the credibility of the seller. If EBAY also charge for this but it is worth spending a little money to avoid any major loss. You may also browse different trading forums and ask the users about the seller.

5) Safety of Payment

PAISAPAY is the safest mode of payment for big payment at EBAY.IN. Make sure you adopt it. However, IF it is not always possible to work that way. So make sure you pay through cheque or some third party online services like PAYPAL etc. Never send payments directly to new seller through Direct Money Transfer Services / Demand Draft.



6) Avoid Big Deals Initially

Never go for a huge transaction straight away. Especially, with new sellers. If possible, break your order into smaller segments. This might increase the cost of shipping and time to some extent but it reduces the risk considerably. However, with familiar seller you may go for bigger deals but be careful while doing that as well. These were some steps that I learnt in online trading and recommend people to consider while Trading Online. There are a few more tricks but I would leave that for some other time.


NOTE- PLEASE DONT MAKE ALWAYS EBAY RESPONSIBLE IF YOU GOT SCAMMED ALL THE TIMES. BECAUSE LIKE YOU THERE ARE MANY NUMBERS OF MEMBER HERE FREE OR PAID. AND NO ONE CAN VERIFY THE NATURE OF THE CLIENT / COMPANY /SELLER / BUYER.

FOR EXAMPLE JUST THINK YOURSELF CAN YOU TELL YOUR WHICH FRIEND CAN CHEAT YOU IN NEAR FUTURE?????

FEW SELLERS SHOWS FAKE DEEDS WHILE OBTAINING MEMBERSHIP, AND AFTER GETTING POWER MARK ON IT, START SCAMMING.

USE YOUR MIND NOT HEART ITS ALL ABOUT BUSINESS DEAR FRIENDS, AND NOTE BUYERS ARE FREE MEMBERS 100%, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU GOT SCAMMED.

I differ from you, buyers can not trust 100% on feedback. Probably, 90% -VE feedbacks removed, once EBAY court enforces power in justification of fate through voting mechanism.

Even If eBAY court observed useless -VE feedback, it should be ub-accountable in seller / buyer rating computation. The comment remain intact tagged with the eBAY court judgement.

You can not be an seller unless you are a buyer. Yourself evaluate and compare selling and buying theory.

Neither I nor my this post will change the entire senario. Indeed there are buyes in such practice but comperatively very lesser side.

If your are aware of Depository / share trading Operations,

Intially, In the year 1998, one person was free to open an account to trade shares without production of documentory proof.

Then SEBI amended the regulations stepwise, Now any account can not open without production of following documents (Trader):

1. Address proof
2. Bank's Account certification
3. PAN CARD
4. AND Physical verification. etc

I am talking about the country largest online trading system. eBAY.in is noway near to this system.

What I mean to say, non identified entity not allow to trade or particiapte on this system.

Note, these portals are still out of government attaintion. What I said in my post, entity indentification process, indeed you will find the same inplace ...... its matter of time.

SEBI doesn't conduct physical verification. it is brokers responsibility to collect address proof, ID proof, (known as KYC documents)

eBay sellers also have to under go similar KYC documentation. Under which all sellers must submit a Valid ID proof, & a valid address proof.

As said a coin has two side so its the same in this world u will find good as well as bad ppl


and do u think ppl who buy on ebay have so much time to verify stuff according to ur guideline
if they had so much time then they wud have gone and brought them physically why would ppl buy online

You just feel Buyer sud verify seller right?? Just put ur self as a seller and a buyer try to cheat u ? so we seller sud also verify as per some guideline

SEBI is a regulatory body. Regulators frame the guidelines and empowered their associates to comply the guidelines. On violation indeed SEBI uses power to conduct inspection solely. Onemore thing all assocites of SEBI bond to disclose their entities in framed timeline.

Regulatory body yet not impenaled to control eCommerce. You are correct, under KYC to extent comply the entity identification process. In KYC signle body control both Regulator as well as intermediatory roll. Both must be seperated. I repeat its matter of time to eforece independent Regulator. eBAY is a MNC. Conclude this with IRDA.

I appreciate the pain you are taking in order to unveil few half witted sellers, those who in practice to abuse eBay policies and buyers.

I have received refund in 3 cases, where the sellers were in default, all three cases were settled by eBAY Guarantee program. In fact out three in one case I paid through demand draft rest two by paisapay. In my view EBAY is well established and professionally managed brand worldwide. Therefore, I think EBAY never ever will increase the sellers / buyers mischievous practice.

Moreover, must understand that the EBAY trading system is 100% automated instructions activation system. I think EBAY system allows to Sellers or Buyers or Controlling EBAY executives only to select the available parameters to penetrate the instructions. Probably, the instructions parameters were framed keeping parallel to the EBAY policies and Programs.

I suggest read every eBay policy and, if you fell it is mandatory and if EBAY policy permits re-frame another strong case with concern EBAY admin probably i.e.TnS, highlight seller’s violations under the Ebay policies and concern programs.

I am sure, you case should be resolved, please check have you missed some important points to record in your claim particularly seller’s violation.

I repeat, Yesterday I have received demand draft from EBAY against one of my claim case. The demand draft issued by EBAY to me not the seller. I am not aware of the mechanism was adopted by EBAY admin with the defaulted seller.

If you are convicted, Indeed EBAY is not acting as per their deed. You should take the ultimate step i.e. Indian Court of Law against all the partners in default.

Still I believe, if you have placed you case with eBAY admin rightly hinting the seller’s violations, they will help you to redress your grievances.

Extremely Sorry, if anyone observed from post, I have alleged the entire sellers. No … ways it was my intension in this thread. I have respect for all members not matter seller or buyer or EBAY officer. Somehow, discussions had curved into different direction and void the essence of the subject. I agree with you coin has two side so it’s the same in this world u will find good as well as bad!

Discussion was online trade! Was I specific to physical verification of sellers, before going into trade with them? Yes I was / am still specific to identification and past credibility of seller. Once can avail the past buyer’s option sitting right on his terminal / desktop. In seller’s identification point, my view is crystal clear, the trader network or resource provider should amend the system and documents kept open for view, it may be seller or buyer. Transparency is mandatory.

Dear, I my case, No where I said seller cheated me, I was firmed that seller was defaulter and played mischievous under trade contract. No one here to safeguard anyone, one has to take personal precaution in online / offline trade. For information EBAY refunded my paid amount to me in all 3 trades, where sellers were in default. In one case I paid through demand draft. This is not the end resolution.

Still I am in touch with EBAY and I will try level best that defaulted sellers items should be demined as fake item. Accordingly, action must be initiated against the seller. Because, all three cases sellers were received the payment but did not ship the item. It is crystal clear that the item placed for bid was not physically available with seller. So item was fake!
