On march 6th I recieved a camera from the seller, which turned out to be faulty. I immediately sent him back, asking him a replacement, after checking the camera thoroughly.

30 days passed when he responded saying this particular model is faulty and that the company does not sell it anymore. Then he sent me an email saying he has another camera from a different company and that he will send it "today itself" once i confirm it. I replied, I need a refund. He was not very keen.

My whole 7100 rupees is in question now. I called ebay. And ebay says I nolonger have any protection. I have not received a camera, nor a refund. My 7100 rupees is at stake, and Ebay says there is nothing they can do. What do you call this?

Deal Plsyk,
Most of the sellers are ready to cooperate with the buyers, just a little patience is required. While we try to prioritize every buyer, but buyer with current order pending for dispatch, always receives a biased attention.

However, if one deals patiently, most sellers will help you out.

Dear plsy2k,

Buyers have protection for 30 days and for all the transactions on eBay India. We understand that 30 days is a good enough period to check the functionality of the item and report any issues to eBay. In case there are any issues, we strongly suggest buyers to work with the sellers as most issues get resolved amicably.

This was an exceptional case, however our Account Management team was able to work with the seller to get a refund processed for this item.

@seema,
the seller responded, but then thats not your work. eBay has no eligiblity whatsoever to claim the credit or speak as though the refund is a work of eBay. I was fortunate enough to have my seller respond favourably. If he had not, you would have done nothing at all, as you already proved by washing your hands off it, telling us your 30 days rule. Right now, I am not concerned about my experience with the camera, as it got resolved, by gods grace. My concern is

I agree that 30 days is good enough to check the functionality of a product. But often, 30 days is hardly enough to settle a dispute. Especially in valuable products like digital camera, where often times quality checks need to be determined, which may take time. Besides, if a replacement is ordered, it definitely takes double the time as for a single product. So I guess one cant 'believe' 30 days is enough. Such assumptions could prove costly for eBay in the form of negative feedback and publicity, as well as for the innocent customers, in the form of complete exposure to misuse by parties involved in the sales, and loss of large sums of money.
