Ebay forgot to create a Category for WHITE TOPAZ?? Very Shocking:(

Dear Ebay Team,
You had forgot to create a Category for White Topaz and Yellow Topaz.

I am very surprised to see that many groups were created for Blue Topaz in connection to the Shapes but White topaz and Yellow Topaz are in good Quantity in eBay but still no Seperate category for them???

Can you explain me this???

I want to list atleast 20-40 items in Yellow Topaz and in white topaz but I cant find the category for the same.

Please create this category in topaz and help me out and this will also benefits the community as buyers can will easily find the White topaz and Yellow topaz.

We has certain specific guidelines regarding creation of new categories.

# of items on the site is one of the criteria

Search Results throw up more than 300 items for "Blue Topaz" whereas for "White Topaz" or "Yellow Topaz" the search results show just about 50 listings or so.

As an immediate solution you can list the "White Topaz" or "Yellow Topaz" under "Other Colors" under Topaz.

Nevertheless, once we have sufficient number of listings & continuous business we shall definitely consider creating new categories for the same.

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I have a very interesting Question for you and I am very much sure that you will reply me.

There are many catogory which do not have A single stone also but still the catogory is created and i am very sure that the catagory are not at all useful or should say less importance compare to the catogory of White Topaz and Yellow Topaz.

The Catogories are as follows with ZERO items:

Amazonite(0)

Apatite(0)

Beryl(0)

Diopside(0)

Rodolite(0)

Tsavorite(0)

I am not telling you the name of the catogory with less then 5 items as the list will be too long then;)

Now I had searched YELLOW TOPAZ and found as many as 23 items in the catagory(Loose Gemstones & Diamonds) as on 4.09.06 at 9.15 p.m

and I had searched WHITE TOPAZ and found as many as 39 items in the catagory(Loose Gemstones & Diamonds) as on 4.09.06 at 9.17 p.m.

I will also list atleast 30 items in White topaz as well as in Yellow Topaz.

So Can you tell me what is that logic to have a Empty catogory and not have a catogory which have atleast more items compare to these????

I will not give up until I get nice clearification on it.

My point is really valid and I will like to know what is the sense of having empty category and having no category for the stones which have atleast sufficient number of items.

I also request my all friends to express their view on it.

Dear Mr Biren,
Good evening. I have never been able to sell a single blue topaz even though I have been listing them,the unheated varieties, for last one year. They are good items. I have given them as free gifts. What else I could do! Pple appreciated them. But no buying.
Whereas I have sold lots of heated yellow topaz in India and all over the world from my ebay india shop.
I am confused. Is it the policy of eBay to promote item which does not sell? Who buys mystic topz? I sold one champagne topaz ,but buyer from Delhi exchanged that for other stones. That beauty is also lying with me unsold.
Yellow topaz is a fast selling item. Even whites also sell at times.
Please dont mind my telling the truth.
I think you should try doing what Deep ji is telling. That will be a good development.

In addition to my earlier reply,please allow me to tell you this.
1.Apatite(bllod stone) can be listed as agates.
2.Beryl can be listed in aquamarine (colorless aquamarine)
3.Rhodolite can be listed in garnet(red garnet).
Amazonite I never saw in reality in Calcutta market. Diopside sometims sells because of the cross like chatoyancy.Tsavorite is a Russian item. I dont think they are ever cut in Jaipur.

What I do is, I create my own categories in my ebay shop. And man , that works. It is easier for the buyers to locate the items they want to buy.
I am not well. It is the old age, you know. But you guys have to go a long way. I am sure you will be able to uphold values for which ebay stands. Only, the discussions should healthy and without malice. That is very much necessary to achieve perfection. And nobody is perfect. Even your natural stones.

Thanks a lot for your concern for the category structure on eBay. In fact, we sometimes wish that there were more community members like you who would be interested in & contribute to this area of e-commerce.

You mentioned some categories which have been showing zero listings. Many of these categories were created after forceful requests from some community members.

However, once launched, if the one or two key sellers lose interest in the category or if the supply dries up or for any other reason it gets abandoned by buyers & sellers, it becomes very difficult for us to remove those categories immediately.

This is one of the reasons why guidelines towards creating new categories have become more & more stringent.

We have taken note of your views & will definitely keep track on the new potential categories you mentioned.

Once there are sufficient number of transactions & a vibrant group of buyers & sellers, we would be able to justify creation of the new categories.

Till such a time, please list the "White Topaz" or "Yellow Topaz" under "Other Colors" under Topaz.

By the way, we are also thinking of removing many categories which have low numbers of transactions, but this requires some lead time before such changes are effected.

We welcome your suggestions towards the same.
