Don't buy any computer accessories on ebay india- Had a terrible experience

Shipment and presales support is good. Once you have paid for the product - for issues that crop up after payment is made dont expect any support from either the vendor or ebay. I lost Rs 5580 for a 80GB Portable Laptop USB HDD VAIO 2.5" Casing I bought from from Ajay Kailash (www.aztectshirts.com). Item no: (290013293950)
The HDD worked for about a month or so and started freezing, I shipped it back to the vendor within the one year warranty period who supposedly interacted with the dealer to get it repaired. They sent me the hard disk after 'repairing' after 5 months - with absolutely no change in performance. My queries were not answered, nor followed up with the vendor, I gave up wowing never to buy again from ebay or aztec. I paid a huge price monetarily and opportunity costs wise- I had bought the hard disk to load up 60 GB of my work data overseas where i was posted and couldnt carry my home computer.

I feel sorry for the incident.Is this a major indication of Indians poor service?Honesty levels coming down?beg/pack/vanish policy of the indians service providers. I couldn't generalize. In India we can't take things for granted.

The moment you get hard disk you should format it and see whether there are bad sectors etc...

buying spares in India are becoming risky. In my pc dated 2001 i have changed 3 hard disks/1 cd rom /1 floppy disk all in a span of 6 years. WHy hard disk fails frequently even though i have ups /i clean the pc properly/ and more so the disk runs in partial loads against its full capacity. Honesty /workmanship and the passion to excel are vanishing in Indians as compared to growth of making quick money. Buyers are worshipped until purchase and neglected after that.

Are we lucky if we get good performance from Indian goods?
A point to ponder. China has overtaken us just because of this in manufacturing/services sector.
