Announcing launch of all new PaisaPay!

We are pleased to announce that starting the week of 3rd December 2007 we will be launching several enhancements to PaisaPay. These enhancements are aimed at making transacting on eBay even more safe, fun and providing our buyers with a delightful experience. New PaisaPay will provide a mechanism for the buyers and sellers to complete their PaisaPay transactions with ease and help our sellers increase their business on eBay.

The New PaisaPay flow:

Key Highlights:

1. Providing a delightful buyer experience: Buyers will now be able to use PaisaPay for fast, assured purchases or get their money back! In case the buyer does not receive the item purchased with the prescribed timelines, he will have the option to get a quick refund.

2. Uniform performance guidelines for Sellers: In new PaisaPay the sellers will have fixed timelines within which they need to ship and deliver the item. This will help in providing a standardised seller experience where sellers will have clear performance guidelines. In case a seller needs more time to ship or deliver the product, he can request the buyer for a time extension.

3. Easy tracking of shipments for both Buyers & Sellers: Sellers will be required to enter the shipping details in My PaisaPay within the prescribed timelines. This will give buyers and sellers a quick reference point to know the shipment status thereby resulting in smooth communication between buyers & sellers.

4. Easy Refund Mechanism:

a. In case the seller is not able to ship the item: Seller can easily issue a refund to the buyer by not entering the shipping details within the prescribed timelines. In such cases PaisaPay will automatically issue a refund to the buyer. The sellers no longer need to follow the offline process of contacting PaisaPay Customer Support for issuing refund.

b. In case the buyer does not receive the item: If the buyer has not received the item within the prescribed timelines he has the option to raise a refund claim. In case the seller has delivered the item he will have 5 days to dispute the buyer’s claim. In case of any dispute between the buyer and seller on item delivery, PaisaPay’s decision will be final.

5. Seller Remittance on Buyer Confirmation: PaisaPay shall remit the money to the seller as soon as the buyer confirms item receipt or does not raise a refund claim in the prescribed timelines. Certain Qualified sellers will be eligible for Express Remittance.

6. Express Remittance for Qualified sellers: Sellers who qualify for Express Remittance will have their individual Express Remittance limit. Please note that Express Remittance is a privilege for sellers with strong business and good behaviour history on eBay. The option to offer this privilege to sellers will be at the sole discretion of PaisaPay.

7. Online Remittance to replace Demand Drafts: PaisaPay will remit seller’s money online to his bank account instead of mailing demand drafts. This will save both the courier & encashment time for the sellers. It will also mean no more cases of lost demand drafts.

8. Twice a week remittance cycle: PaisaPay will now be sending money to sellers twice a week (bi-weekly basis) replacing the process of weekly remittance.

9. All new My PaisaPay: The new ‘My PaisaPay’ in “My eBay”, will give buyers & sellers an easier interface to communicate with each other and stay updated on transaction details.

10. PaisaPay Phone Support to be extended to all seven days of the week: PaisaPay phone support will be extended to all seven days of the week (from current five days a week) from the month of December 07.

11. PaisaPay becomes mandatory: All listings will automatically offer PaisaPay as a mode of payment. Sellers can also offer other mode of payments. Sellers with 20 or less listings will be able to offer PaisaPay as the only mode of payment. Read FAQ’s.

12. PaisaPay Invoice: To ease the process of reconciliation and accounting your PaisaPay transactions PaisaPay would be issuing a monthly Invoice to sellers.

13. eBay Buyer Protection remains the same: Buyers will continue to remain eligible for eBay Buyer Protection after time-out period. All other buyer protection features will remain the same. Read FAQ’s.

14. PaisaPay EMI Option: Sellers with 5 or more feedback will have the option to offer 3 and 6 month EMI in their listings, which can be availed by buyers paying via ICICI bank credit cards. Additional PaisaPay charges apply fro EMI transactions. Read FAQ’s

To avail the Enhanced PaisaPay facility from the week of December 3, 2007, all sellers will need to register again with PaisaPay and update their bank details here. We encourage you to update your details as soon as possible on this link. Read FAQ’s.

We understand that you might have questions to understand the changes better. Please feel free to read the FAQ’s, go through the details on this page and on the tutorial, contact our Customer Service team or post your questions on this thread.

We are very excited about these changes as we believe that this will help us in providing a high quality online shopping experience to our users and help in making eBay the favoured destination of online shoppers.

Regards,
The eBay Team

Proof of Dispatch / Providing Airway Bill Number
I am not sure I am able to understand the concerns regarding providing dispatch details. Whenever you courier anything, the courier company always provides you with an airway bill number which also serves as a tracking number.

Sapana I have dispatched 5 parcels today. I have not received the Airway Bill Nos / docket nos from the courier company.

The pick up boy said that he has lots of pick up and won’t be able to make the AWB receipts right now; he will prepare it in his office at night and will give it next time he comes.

Tomorrow it is a bank holiday and I won’t be able to get the details till Saturday evening till he comes for next pick up. I think the parcels will be delivered by Saturday morning before I get the shipping details.

This is not only with me; many of the sellers might have this problem.

Proof of Delivery:

However, just like sellers maintain proof of delivery to contest a chargeback, they will also need to provide the same to contest a Refund Claim. Online tracking will be accepted as long as you have provided a valid proof of dispatch. Please note that this process is same as in case of chargeback protection

Sapana, As mentioned before many of the courier companies do not update their online tracking regularly.

I have never seen a chargeback before or within 30 days of payment. In that case we get good amount of time and the courier companies also give us the proof of delivery.

We sellers cannot make a new policy for the courier company and cannot say that we are your customers and for our satisfaction and good shipping experience you have to give us the proof of delivery with X no of days.

Hope you understand.

Announcing launch of all new PaisaPay!

Hello,
The new PaisaPay seems to be very unpractical and unfair to sellers.I strongly feel that in eBay all sellers are targeted only to increase eBay's revenue. No matter if the seller’s interest are protected or not,eBay should earn and rest can go to hell.

First eBay had introduced heavy listings fee and then they had increased the Paisapay charges (which also included OBT) almost to 4.5%(Including all taxes) and now they are making it compulsory to offer paisapay in all listings and that too with unacceptable terms which only favor buyers and will cause only problems to sellers.

I am selling small value items to high value items and I can’t bear such heavy charges of 4.5% on paisapay for high value items?

In Offline market seller charge additional amount from buyer if buyer wish to pay through Credit Card but in eBay sellers are forced to bear all charges and that too with very unfair terms.
OBT charges is also almost 4.5% which completely a means to earn only additional profit from sellers. There is no valid reason to increase OBT Charges.
Instead of that we seller should offer 4% discount to buyer if they pay through DD/Cheque/ATM Drop Box etc.

The new PaisaPay will only add more tension to sellers and there will be less of selling and more of extra works like getting POD for each and every Paisapay transaction,Which is really a very tough job.

I am selling mainly gemstones in eBay from many years(from the time of Baazee.com) and not many courier accept gemstones, If eBay know any such reputed courier who accept gemstones/jewelry and also can provide insurance for such high value items with tracking facility then I will be very thankful to eBay.

Please note that sometime the parcels are delivered within 7-10 days but the POD are not available before 30-45 days and in some case the courier company are not able to provide POD, even if the buyer get the item.

Speed post is reliable but it do not provide perfect tracking details, Most of the parcel are just shown as booked but then no further information is provided their tracking website. Also the acknowledgment does not reach us half of the time even if we pay additional for it.
So, some fraud buyer in such case can take an advantage of such things/weakness and claim their money back. The buyer can enjoy with item as well as the money and seller will be helpless.
Seller will loose money as well as their items.

I think I will have to stop selling high value items as I can not bear high PaisaPay charges. Also there is much risk in selling high value items as buyer may claim the money if because of any reason it takes more then 10 days to get the item deliver. Also getting POD in very short time is nearly impossible.

Most of my buyers don’t have time to confirm the receipt of the item, when they get the item, They don’t bother to come online and confirm that the item is received by them in good conditions. So, again the seller will be suffer badly.

I am a Powerseller in eBay (silver level) but don’t think I will be able to hold that status for long.

But the day is near when there will be very less number of good sellers in eBay as eBay is just introducing new policy, which are clearly ignoring seller’s interest.

Thanks eBay for such a nice Diwali gifts to eBay sellers.

I am with sellers, who are against this new unfair policy of eBay.

Best Regards,
Deep Agarwal.

Announcing launch of all new PaisaPay!

Dear Ms Sapana,
Need some answers please:
INTERNATIONAL Buyers go on vacations often. One of my buyers bought an item and didn't reply to my mails for a month, because he was on vacation.
How do you suggest the NEW PaisaPay system will be able to communicate better? (Who'll confirm receipt when they want parcels to be left at the front door?)
Why make PaisaPay necessary on all listings when there are COUNTLESS Power Sellers who don't offer this option for payment?

Kindly reply ASAP

For items lost in transit: If an item is lost in transit, even today, the seller either replaces the product or refunds the money to the buyer. In such cases, the seller tries to receive money back from the courier company. If the item is lost in transit, then it will not be fair to hold on to buyer’s money, as it results in significant bad buyer experience and the possibility of his not coming back on eBay.

Dear Sapana,

eBay has an option of insuring the products in Transit. For which the Seller has an option to charge the Buyer extra amount. However if the buyer hasn't chosen insurance eBay still holds the seller responsible. Why?

I would agree that its a sellers responsibility to deliver product safely but there are occasions when the product is lost in transit, to avoid such cases buyer needs to pay a insurance charge. The last time i read though the terms and conditions it mentioned very clearly that eBay won't entertain claims from the buyer for uninsured products lost in transit.

Also adding to Devesh, Speed Post charges are really high for Insurance. TNT charges 0.7% for insuring the product.

Also you have mentioned that in cases there

Buyer Misuse:
In the rare event where the sellers feel that buyers are misusing the system, please communicate the same to the PaisaPay team. -- I don't understand why give create such situations where the buyer can easily misuse the situation. As it is the sellers are under terror of TnS for buyers misusing the feedback system and Disputes.

Every listing has an option for sellers to give an estimated delivery time. In case we set a delivery time of 10 days the the New Paisa Pay system still gives us 7 days (and hassles and manual work for seller to ask buyer for an extension, increasing activity required by buyer aswell). Also situations such as this (Diwali) when weekends are combined with Bank Holidays?

What i believe is that the eBay is loosing significant amount in Buyer Protection Claims (and thats because the process has been misused by buyers) and thus they want to check it with a SWORD hanging on sellers head with auto-refunds from Paisa Pay.

Overall i still feel the best part is direct credit of PaisaPay payments to sellers bank account. Other issues will depend on how much load the PaisaPay team can take (i.e. how effectively can they process POD's and claims).

PaisaPay, as we learn in cases of chargeback often refuses sellers defense citing reasons such as "POD Recieved Late" whereas sellers claim that they sent it in time.

Hello Fellow Sellers,

I would just like to put this in perspective.

What the new system means and what are the implications on the sellers.

1) Was this required?

Even after selling online for 5 years and having delivered over 20,000 goods, the second question I answer every day is:

"What is the guarantee that I will get the goods after I make the payment?"

All ebay is doing is answering this question of the buyer with the following reply -

"You will either get the goods in max. 17 days or your money Back."

With this answered and buyer's mind being put at rest business should go up by atleast a factor of 2. Just imagine doing double the amount of sales you are currently doing.

Plus all other sites like FB.com, I.com, HS.com are already offering this commitment to their buyers and to stay competitive ebay to has to offer something simillar. I.com even offer buyers Rs.151/- if they do not get the product within 15 days whch obviously comes from the sellers pocket.

2) Sellers have to input airway bill details for every transaction.

This should not be a big deal. Every site requires this and every good seller is anyway providing the details to their buyers already. I have been doing this religiously for 5 years.

3) Payment Cycle will get delayed by say 10 days.

Yes, this is an inconvenience, but ebaY will still remain the fastest payment receipt among all online portals even after this delay.

4) I have to ship within 7 days. OMG!

You should have been doing this all along, except for customised items, for which you can always ask for time extension. I have sold customised items (hundreds of them) and yes, shipped them within 2-5 days. Many tailors offer express stitching in 24 hours and jewellers customised ornaments in 3 days. You guys need to be express customisers if you have to sell online. Otherwise the option of time extention is always there.

Well, all other sites also require you to ship within such timelines. Infact most other sites will charge you their comission, and some double, if you miss this timeline and buyer will be auto refuned. In ebaY all you will be loosing in your order. NO FVF will be charged to you, you can go ahead and file the UPI.

5) I have to stop using all those couriers who do not give time specific deliveries and do not have online tracking. I will loose most of my business.

Well, this fear is unfounded. I have stopped using such servies as India Post and unreliable couriers for more than 6 months and loss in business is marginal. Orders from far off places are only a small percentage of total orders.

Using reliable couriers will cost a little more, but that is a small price to pay for greater buyer satisfaction increased business and ultimately it is the buyer who pays for shipping. I hardly see any seller who offer "Free Shipping".

6) I sell internationally. I cannot adjust to these timelines.

Most international buyers anyway prefer PayPal to PaisaPay. Other option is that you can always list on those ebay sites which generate the most revenue (for e.g. ebay.com or ebay.co.uk) and choose not to offer PaisaPay. I beleive PaisaPay will be compulsory only for listing on ebay.in.

Plus the feedback I hear from most international sellers, is that international buyers are genteel and do not open INR disputes for weeks. So international sellers should not be too much worried about INR claims by buyers.

Hi All.

I have being watching this post for the past few days like a mute spectator.I am an engineering student and going to go ahead with my higher studies for MBA.And seriously,I already got an answer to one of the important question in Management.

What is globalisation??
See,we are being robbed by International Agencies(ebay) using Local methods of robbing(paisapay) in a developing country.Sounds like a typical history chapter when british were ruling India.

We,the sellers of ebay.in are here to give a better lifestyle to the citizens of India. But it is the opposite what is happening. The sellers of ebay.in are pouring in money(thru FVF+paisapay comission) so that the foreigners can live happily and we have to go through a lot of hardships to keep our reputation(feedback) better.

Right now,who exactly is gaining. This is a serious question which i ought to ask to the sellers in this website. This post has being put up in the community so that the sellers can voice out their opinion. But where are the steps being taken.

I know that there are people who are keen to delete my post, but this is community post and i do have a voice too.

The new paisapay is good only for the bank transfer and emi options. The rest of the services have to be looked through.I have to wait for 15 days to get the payment which is too long!!

I am calling all sellers to unite for the tough times to come.I know that very few would come out.But just remember that,we are the source of revenue for the site to stay alive. If we dont sell, they wont have money in their pockets. It could lead to the reveiew of their proposed plan and they might even decide shelve it out.DO THINK ABOUT IT.

In the new paisapay system, fraud sellers cannot thrive as the money of the buyers would be refunded. So,we can get an advantage over that.If we sellers unite and ask the country manager to stop such a hectic plan of paisapay, they would hear us out.

GET INTO GHANDIGIRI,THERE WOULD SURELY BE A POSITIVE OUTCOME.

IF ANY SELLER HAS THE SAME OPINION AS MINE,I CAN GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD WORK.IT IS NOT FOR MY SAKE ONLY,I GAVE A SUGGESTION FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY SELLERS.

Regards
Rahul
