Announcing launch of all new PaisaPay!

We are pleased to announce that starting the week of 3rd December 2007 we will be launching several enhancements to PaisaPay. These enhancements are aimed at making transacting on eBay even more safe, fun and providing our buyers with a delightful experience. New PaisaPay will provide a mechanism for the buyers and sellers to complete their PaisaPay transactions with ease and help our sellers increase their business on eBay.

The New PaisaPay flow:

Key Highlights:

1. Providing a delightful buyer experience: Buyers will now be able to use PaisaPay for fast, assured purchases or get their money back! In case the buyer does not receive the item purchased with the prescribed timelines, he will have the option to get a quick refund.

2. Uniform performance guidelines for Sellers: In new PaisaPay the sellers will have fixed timelines within which they need to ship and deliver the item. This will help in providing a standardised seller experience where sellers will have clear performance guidelines. In case a seller needs more time to ship or deliver the product, he can request the buyer for a time extension.

3. Easy tracking of shipments for both Buyers & Sellers: Sellers will be required to enter the shipping details in My PaisaPay within the prescribed timelines. This will give buyers and sellers a quick reference point to know the shipment status thereby resulting in smooth communication between buyers & sellers.

4. Easy Refund Mechanism:

a. In case the seller is not able to ship the item: Seller can easily issue a refund to the buyer by not entering the shipping details within the prescribed timelines. In such cases PaisaPay will automatically issue a refund to the buyer. The sellers no longer need to follow the offline process of contacting PaisaPay Customer Support for issuing refund.

b. In case the buyer does not receive the item: If the buyer has not received the item within the prescribed timelines he has the option to raise a refund claim. In case the seller has delivered the item he will have 5 days to dispute the buyer’s claim. In case of any dispute between the buyer and seller on item delivery, PaisaPay’s decision will be final.

5. Seller Remittance on Buyer Confirmation: PaisaPay shall remit the money to the seller as soon as the buyer confirms item receipt or does not raise a refund claim in the prescribed timelines. Certain Qualified sellers will be eligible for Express Remittance.

6. Express Remittance for Qualified sellers: Sellers who qualify for Express Remittance will have their individual Express Remittance limit. Please note that Express Remittance is a privilege for sellers with strong business and good behaviour history on eBay. The option to offer this privilege to sellers will be at the sole discretion of PaisaPay.

7. Online Remittance to replace Demand Drafts: PaisaPay will remit seller’s money online to his bank account instead of mailing demand drafts. This will save both the courier & encashment time for the sellers. It will also mean no more cases of lost demand drafts.

8. Twice a week remittance cycle: PaisaPay will now be sending money to sellers twice a week (bi-weekly basis) replacing the process of weekly remittance.

9. All new My PaisaPay: The new ‘My PaisaPay’ in “My eBay”, will give buyers & sellers an easier interface to communicate with each other and stay updated on transaction details.

10. PaisaPay Phone Support to be extended to all seven days of the week: PaisaPay phone support will be extended to all seven days of the week (from current five days a week) from the month of December 07.

11. PaisaPay becomes mandatory: All listings will automatically offer PaisaPay as a mode of payment. Sellers can also offer other mode of payments. Sellers with 20 or less listings will be able to offer PaisaPay as the only mode of payment. Read FAQ’s.

12. PaisaPay Invoice: To ease the process of reconciliation and accounting your PaisaPay transactions PaisaPay would be issuing a monthly Invoice to sellers.

13. eBay Buyer Protection remains the same: Buyers will continue to remain eligible for eBay Buyer Protection after time-out period. All other buyer protection features will remain the same. Read FAQ’s.

14. PaisaPay EMI Option: Sellers with 5 or more feedback will have the option to offer 3 and 6 month EMI in their listings, which can be availed by buyers paying via ICICI bank credit cards. Additional PaisaPay charges apply fro EMI transactions. Read FAQ’s

To avail the Enhanced PaisaPay facility from the week of December 3, 2007, all sellers will need to register again with PaisaPay and update their bank details here. We encourage you to update your details as soon as possible on this link. Read FAQ’s.

We understand that you might have questions to understand the changes better. Please feel free to read the FAQ’s, go through the details on this page and on the tutorial, contact our Customer Service team or post your questions on this thread.

We are very excited about these changes as we believe that this will help us in providing a high quality online shopping experience to our users and help in making eBay the favoured destination of online shoppers.

Regards,
The eBay Team

Most buyers forget the seller and do not give feedback. My more than 500 feedbacks are just wasted as buyers did not respond after they got items. The same rule will apply for buyers who will not communicate with eBay regarding item received.

Now if this is the scene than we will get payments after 15 days of our dispatch. E.g. on 1st I sell and receive funds, send item on the same day & buyer receives on 2nd, he does not mention any thing on eBay, we get the amount after 15 days of sale in the new paisa pay, just because buyer is ignorant of eBay policies. Today we get in 7 days or earlier if a sale is successful. Now eBay will test the sellers and his couriers also in the race, PLUS buyers’ abilities to respond back on time, then release payments for sellers.

Other observations & questions:
Paisa pay seems to be made mandatory on eBay with this new paisa pay.

How do we know we are qualified for Express Remittance?

Hi coolbrasco,

On the topic of inputting shipping details:

Most of our good sellers (and I believe folks like you who have 100% feedback rates) already interact with their buyers to tell them about the airway bill number and expected time of delivery. Now instead of you mailing it out to the buyer individually, all you will need to do is input in the system and the buyer will get a mail on the dispatch status. Also, there will be no chance of the buyer loosing the mail and asking you again about the airway bill number. He will have it all in his My PaisaPay. As a seller you will save time, effort because the system will work for you. The buyer will have a great experience because he will be informed at all times.

I think the bigger advantage of the system is that it will help us provide our buyers with a delightful experience helping eBay become their preferred online destination and thereby benefiting the sellers in the long run.

In case the buyer raises Item not received claim, what will happen?

For the benefit of all sellers, I just wanted to clarify that the buyer will be able to raise the Item not received claim until the delivery deadline is over. In case of delivery within India, it is 10 days and in case of international delivery it is 21 days after you have input shipping details. For 95% of the transactions, these timelines should be sufficient.

However, we do understand that there could be few cases when buyer might raise a refund claim due to a situation which has not been caused by the seller’s fault. In such cases the seller will have 5 days to dispute such claim. In such cases PaisaPay will investigate the matter and decide based on evidence on record. In case there is some confusion between buyer and seller, I guess it will need to be worked out amicably. A refund claim once raise can also be subsequently withdrawn by the buyer. We encourage the sellers to use this feature in case of subsequent agreements between the buyers and sellers.

Again, as I mentioned earlier, I think the new features will be a great pull for buyers, giving them greater trust to try buying online and on eBay and continue to do so because of the fantastic experience they get.

Hi!

Many times things go out of control if the buyer stays in a DFR location where couriers do not take high value items e.g. West Bengal, J & K, UP and now Gujarat also. If there is any delay in the shipping or delivery a seller has tensions of negative feedback and dispute. Now one more tension of amount getting auto refunded if delivery is not on time.

Buyers do not care to leave any feedback if they are satisfied. If they are not satisfied then they know what to do.
80% of the buyers will not confirm the receipt of the item and will just enjoy the purchase and seller’s money will be kept on hold.

In case of a claim, getting a copy of the POD is not so easy. Many courier companies do not provide POD. Getting the POD in a short period of time will add up sellers work.

Seller with low value items can survive, but what about sellers who have lakhs of rupees every week in their PaisaPay account.

Well, thanks for a adding up tensions and loads of work for a seller.

Hi assemblerz,

To answer your question on will you receive your money after substantial delays?
The answer is not really. In the old system, a seller’s money is released on a 7 day cycle. The courier would typically take between 2 -7 days to reach and the encashment time of 3-5 days. Thus on an average, a seller would wait for 12 -20 days to receive their PaisaPay payments. With the new system, assuming that the buyer does not respond, you will get your money in 15 days. Thus, in most cases, the wait time will be the same or less.

If we take feedback left percentage as a proxy of buyers who would confirm receipt, you might be surprised to know that adoption rates for feedback are close to 70%. This means that in 70% cases, you will get your money faster due to online remittance and twice weekly cycle. In 30% of cases, you might need to wait for time-out period. However, I think this problem can be resolved by closer communication with the buyer. While the sellers can communicate with the buyer to encourage them to confirm receipt, the system will also have various reminder mails to the buyers.

To know about the criteria for express remittance, please click here - http://pages.ebay.in/paisapay/pspx_faqs.html#f3

Sellers who qualify for early remittance will be notified individually once we come closer to the launch date.

I hope I have been able to address some of your concerns. Please do not hesitate to write back in case of further questions.

Sapana

Hi gizmozindia & e.stores & techniwas,

To the question of will PaisaPay accept online tracking as proof of delivery?

PaisaPay will prefer to receive physical copies of proof of delivery and dispatch. However, we do understand that at times it will be difficult for the sellers to acquire the same. Thus, in certain cases, PaisaPay may accept the online tracking details as proof of delivery if the following conditions are met:

1. Seller provides physical copy of proof of dispatch (sellers receive it while shipping the product)
2. The proof of dispatch is legible and is complete (Sellers who have frequent shipments, fill up the dispatch detail and handover the courier to the delivery boy. In case you have similar practice, do ensure that the details are clear.)
3. The airway bill number provided by seller in My PaisaPay needs to be the same as the one provided for online tracking

However, PaisaPay may choose to ask for more details and accepting an online tracking number will be at PaisaPay’s discretion.

I believe that even today, sellers maintain various proof of delivery & dispatch to contest any chargeback that PaisaPay might receive. Thus the workload for a seller might not be significantly different even with new PaisaPay.

Sapana

Hi brand.deal,

I am sure you are able to deliver to your buyers in 10 days in 98% of the cases. I believe that sellers like you take lot of pains to ensure that your buyers get products in time. There are the few cases where the shipment was delayed beyond your control.

On the point of feedback, as I had mentioned earlier, even if feedback were a proxy of people who will confirm receipt, then we can expect 70% of buyers to confirm receipt. For the more forgetful ones, the system has various reminders built in to ensure that the buyer is reminded about confirming acceptance.

Sellers like you, who sell high value tech items, mostly use high end courier companies. In such cases, providing the proof of delivery and dispatch becomes even easier since your courier company would normally capture all such details (both online & offline). I also think that for sellers like you (experienced on site & dealing with high end products) the process to adopt the new process will be far simpler. There is a high probability that you might be already following it, and now it will become more structured.

Do feel free to write back with your point of view or concerns.

Hi shreelaptops,

To give a slightly larger perspective on the online bank transfers - The PaisaPay systems will depend on the NEFT systems of bank to transfer money online to your bank account. More branches are getting added to the list on a daily basis by NEFT. We will be again updating the list to add more branches and provide maximum coverage for our sellers.

In case your branch is not covered by PaisaPay currently, I will request you to send your bank name & branch name to our Customer Support team (Contact Us or Live Chat). We will try and add them to the list on priority basis when we update the list.

In case you have more questions about the New PaisaPay, feel free to post them here.

Sapana
