shipping cost very high

Bazze normally used to charge Rs150 to 200 for delivery charges but now after taken over by Ebay the delivery charges have increased to 300 which is very expensive for if have to pay Rs300 as delivery to buy a product whose value is 400 then it makes no sense.

Please bring down the cost of delivery.

Thank you for posting your feedback. I just wanted to clarify that the delivery charges are not fixed by eBay, but by the different sellers who list their items for sale on the site. This was also the case on the old Baazee site.

Would request sellers to come forward and post your views on this issue.

Rohit is right. It's us sellers who fix shipping prices, not Ebay. Ebay is a forum to bring people like you and us together to trade. Auctions are a fun form of really getting fantastic deals. Initially, there used to be a spate of courier companies or shippers who used to ship products. But most of them increased seller's woes instead of proper and legitimate deliveries. There were a lot of produc pilferages, lost packages, and so many other unforeseen problems.
Hence sellers like us now ship their products ONLY by Highly reputed shipping companies and we also fully insure our products. All this costs much, much more than what we charge our winners.
It's a choice, and a tough choice - delivering our products safely to our customers, or losing several packages.
I'm sure buyers would understand, and would themselves want their products insured and shipped. All this has a cost, and sellers extend some of these those costs to buyers. Buyers do get the best deals on Ebay.in, and safe shipping also insures that the product reaches you safe and sound.
That's how it works.

It is really unfair to the consumers by charging high shipping costs. There is a web cam listed at 1 Re. with a shipping cost of Rs. 999. Can ebay get me this deal that I collect the product from the seller from his address myself and the shipping cost is waived off??? The way of charging consumers by way of shipping cost is unfair and ebay should do something about it.

As Rohit pointed out eBay doesn’t advise sellers on the shipping charge, sellers fix their own shipping charges for their products.
If you find any such instance of unrealistically high shipping charges kindly report atContact Us Contact Us

At Contact Us select

1. Report a listing policy violation or prohibited (banned item)
2. Listing policy violation
3. Avoided eBay fees in a listing (offered direct sale, high shipping costs etc.)

illusions-india's response is truly illusionary. What else to say? Which courier will charge 599/- for shipping and insurance for a goggle that's listing for Re. 1, and whose actual price cannot even by any stretch of imagination exceed Rs. 300? More so, when digital cameras worth 3000/- to 30000/- shipped at Rs. 100/- to Rs. 300/- including transit insurance.

Let's face it folks, Ebay is a failure in consumer protection. Baazee had a real consumer concern in it's business model, that only helped it to grow. There was a feature in Baazee to display total cost to bidder including shipping cost, which has been discontinued. Another great feature of consumer watch where bidders spotting fake deals could report has been removed. Is this an international bidding house? I cannot be convinced anymore.

Plain and simple, nobody is interested to buy goggles at 600/- including postage and transit insurance when it is easily available at 50-300 anywhere. This is only a means to defraud the bidders as well as beat the commission system of eBay listing.

Maybe someday good business sense will prevail on the professional managers running this so called international online bidding site.

I think it is known to everybody including Ebay that the sellers fix the shipping charges. They recover the cost of the item in the name of shipping charges.

More to this, sellers and their associates participate in the auction and raise the bid amount and a buyer ends up with paying the actual amount of the item.


Now Ebay has become a shopping site and not an auction site. There is no more fun in bidding in bidding in Ebay. This is what I feel. The best thing is that we get to know a great veriety items.

Its relly cheating... do they really need to take so much for sgipping charge. Ebay should not allowed the Sellers to charge so much for the shipping... In india for items like CD's whose price is Rs 10-15 and if you add shipping charge for Rs 300.. do you think its a worth buy?.. Looks like its a cheating and monopoly happening here.. Dear All,

The shipping charges in all E-Bay listing is just a means to recover the cost of the material. E-Bay should have the onus responsibilty to provide the shipping option to the buyer if they want us to make this site successful.

All Aution sites are successful only if you have buyers. E-bay will have to tie-up with all major Courier/Indian postal company for pick-up and delivery of items. However, this will be dealt by the Seller and Buyer in toto with the courier company and E-bay won't have anything to do, but the platform will have to created by you.

In of the Auction I won an Item for Re. 1, and Shipping charges was 99/-. I am in logistic field and the courier company I dealt with confirmed to deliver me the item from delhi to Mumbai at 45/- maximum (Blue Dart/First Flight).

I have already asked the Seller to let me know if I can pick-up the itme and till date no response. So you see, the listing of all items for Re. 1 is bogus. I am awaiting the response and if I don't get the same I shall be filing a case with the concerened forum on e-ba, as who know he miht have cheated for crores of rupess till date.

I would like to question the eBay team on why they are not able to regularize the shipping cost based on the product & seller details. Recently I found an Olympia camera being auctioned for Re.1 with a shipping charge Rs.685.00. Ironically this is from the same city as me and the shiiping would hardly touch 100. Even if the seller has to deliver it himself it would only be the around 100.

I have seen Rohit's reply. It just shows how much the eBay team is keen on improving the standard of this site. eBay guys, you are really sick. It would be better to shutdown the site than run it without any moral values.
