This is Icarus from Bangalore, India. I am new to eBay, and intend to indulge in selling some imported goods, after some value addition (adding some locally manufactured items along with it) in new package (made locally). Wondering if experienced list-members could provide some guidance on --
1) To check quality/features I want to order samples, i.e. 1-2 pieces each of 4-6 type of items from China and HongKong.
a) Do I need IEC for the initial set of samples ?
b) Any way to get samples in personal name marking them for personal use (which is actually true as I do not intend to sell the samples but use in my home only), with minimal duty, and not having to acquire IEC ?
c) Can I assume that courier company would take care of handling all necessary paperwork and customs clearance (if required) ? Manufacturer plans to send via TNT-Express or DHL-Express.
2) Manufacturer wants me to send money via WireTransfer/TT. Wondering as to how safe this is ? What are the various options ? Do I need some clearances for this ?
3) Eventually I plan to run as a sole-proprietorship firm. Does that cause any problems for seeking IEC, or doing international business (importing) in any form ?
