Shipping to France (Am confused about so much)

I have a question. My cousin in France wants me to send her a box of about 20 Rajasthani books(the diaries with camel leather covers where people can write in the blank pages)

What shipping service do you recommend that I use to ship from Bombay to Paris?
Will the customs officials at mumbai airport ask for any special documentation as its a whole box of books?

Is it recommended to use our India post to send the books or should I use some special shipping service. Thanks and God bless for any help,suggestions, links or phone numbers.

Not sure about import rules in France. But you can send it by Air Freight service by TNT. They charge on per 10KG basis and is generally cheaper than normal. Still if you have a account with TNT it will be better because otherwise the rates are high.

I think you should better use the Indian Postal Services. They are reliable and cheaper too plus any custom headache would ne theirs .

Hi,
I sell old newspapers to Holland.Sometimes they are in kilos.I send by FGN REGD BOOKPOST.Damn cheap.
You need to have IEC xerox and invoice.You must be authorised to export and on government side,the customs must know the value of the items.

But,my honest guess is you cant send it because of the camel leather.Animal products no government will allow.I have tried unsuccessfully to export to Iceland fishing snares made from feathers of domestic guinea pea fowl.You better talk to customs house first.

We ship Worlwide daily by Registered Airmail or Speed Post (for value items).

Customs forms and passport/drivers licence copy is only necessary for parcels over 2KG. Most items marked as Gift on the customs form do not normally incur taxes.

Keep the parcels small to avoid customs checking.

You should be able to use Book Post, which is cheaper than airmail. Check with local post office.
