If you buy cheap and unwarranted Chinese products to save your money, please don't complain here. No one prevented you to purchase a genuine item.

And what makes you think the money should be paid by the seller?

who will stop sellers from selling cheap Chinese mobiles?? why should the buyer beware??

mr.real-pheonix: if an eBayer will not share his experience here, where do you expect him to share it? the buyer lost Rs.120 and got nothing in return. why do you think he should not raise this issue? let us assume he ordered an iPhone 3Gs with manufacturer warranty and say, he got a 2G phone instead which he had to return on his own dime. pray tell me what would have been your reaction then? -- Signature: I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

u_rakshit instead of returning the item you should have lodge a complaint via Ebay resolution centre for a refund.

I'd cite a real market scenerio:

The sellers of chinese and cheap electronics items do not offer any warranty or replacements in real market either. Once you pay them and step out of the shop, the ownership is all yours. You can't even argue with them.

Now suppose if you came home and find that the item needs replacement, on whose cost would you go to the shopkeeper. Even if the seller replaces your item would he refund you the auto fare or the petrol and parking expenses. You always come home smiling with your replaced item and never complain about the costs you incurred.

I'm not taking any sides with any argument but this is the nature of such transactions.

Better quality products and better services have inbuilt costs. While buying every buyer should be aware from where he's buying and what is expected of the deal. Good and bad sellers/products/services are available all at the same time. The buyer has to choose.

a very apt reply, sir. to be honest, the only way i can describe your point is "sad but true". the Indian market is and remains largely a 'buyer beware' market. sellers complain about other fly by night sellers eating into their sales, but would it be too much to assume that the basic mindset remains the same?

anyway, my main point was that the buyer was told to not post here because he should not crib if he bought a chinese phone. my attempt was to ascertain if the reply would have been different if it was an iPhone. -- Signature: I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

As far as posting is concerned, everybody is free to post here and raise his/her concern. And why not?

The Buyer Beware term is perfect and truly reflects the market's mindset in Indian context. This is indeed "Sad but true".
