This is a serious issue which has been brought ot the notice of ebay again and again still no action is taken.
As long as the seller selection one free shipping option, it shows free shipping in listing view as well as a free shipping logo is added to the main picture in the listing.
The works well in the US and other markets where shipping are based on time, i.e standard / express, etc. So no matter where the buyer is located he can still have free shipping if he is prepared to wait for standard delivery.
But In India the shipping charges are payment and location based. So if a seller based in a small town like JumriTalia is offering on Local Cash On Delivery as Free, its shows free shipping everywehre. And maybe a fraction of a percentage of buyers are opting for the free shipping option and the rest of the buyers have to pay shippig charges (which in some cases are exhorbitant) and get a bad expereice.
Is it only the sellers responsibility to give a good experience to the buyer or does ebay have any role to play in it?
