ebay has proved beyond doubt that it prefers certain sellers.
There is one seller on ebay India who breaks every ebay policy and still stays smiling on the site.
Not only this he enjoys the powerseller status also. I guess this seller is a top gun and rules ebay India site. I am unable to unveil his magic, you can try if you can.
Let me brief you.
1. This seller prominently displays his mobile no. in his shop home page.
(I thought putting personal information was not allowed.)
2. He is a powerseller despite his feedback score as on today ie. June 24, 2007 at 11.37 pm is 95.8%
(I thought you need atleast 98% feedback to be a powerseller.)
3. This guy collects names and email ids of visitors to his shop (I thought that was not allowed. Buyer could add seller as a favourite but even in that case ebay does not reveal email ids)
4. This guy puts links from his listings to his website. (I had an impression links which lead outside ebay were not allowed.)
Ok guys let me reveal the name of this guy.
His ebay id is nitro_fashion and his shop name
Nitro-Fashion-Shop.
Here is a link to his shop
http://stores.ebay.in/Nitro-Fashion-Shop
Can I request ebay to enlighten other ebay sellers how they can get preferencial treatment.

Thanks for bringing this to the community notice. Definitely it may be eBay's mistake. Or there is a privilege.
One fact is if a seller keeps his average sales Rs.5000 for 3 months, may be he can have PowerSeller status. I am not sure if a seller does not maintain his reputation. In this case definitely it is a violation.
If the feedback score goes below 98% at any cost eBay should strip off the PowerSeller status. Then they can bring it back if he has good feedback score again. Otherwise those sellers working hard, make sacrifice, do acrobatics, bend eBay rules to make a customer happy will be fooled if eBay still give the PowerSeller status to guys having feedback score below 98%.
I have another shop(Dont want to get in trouble writing this), i work hard to keep my feedback score 100%, and PowerSeller status, look like if everyone can get PowerSeller status, then it has no value and meaning in the future.
eBay kindly act in matter and take action if required.
Thanks lovelyblr again for bring this to our notice.
Kind regards,
BabyLovelyGifts.

The precentage calcuation of 98% for PS status is based on total feedback and not unique feedback.
The seller has 350 positives and 9 negatives out of which 3 are recent. So if you count 6 /350 - you will get a percentage higher than 98.
PS status is reviewed once a month and since the seller has 3 recent negatives, his PS status may go way after a month unless he imporves his ratings.
Regarding Contact Numbers, Website links, etc. only ebaY can clarify. Acutally ebay relies on its members to report violations of policy. Maybe no-one has reported the seller to ebay and he has not come under the notice of ebay.

I don't think there is a special treatment for Nitro-Fashion. Mistakes sometimes happens unintentionally.
Disclosing personal information like address, phone or personal email is not healthy due to privacy issues.
I hope Nitro-Fashion will remove it soon. ---------------

I had posted a topic on 24th June and even after one week the seller continues to enjoy special priveleges. I guess this seller is a big shot or he may be one of ebay's staff.
All I want now is that ebay atleat explains to other sellers what I reported are these voilations of ebay policy or not.
Rather than investigating nitro fashion, ebay last week took an action against my account.
Next time you may see that ebay suspends my account or take action against me for reporting but I feel all sellers deserve an equal treatment.
Would request fellow sellers to give a united stand

Thanks for bringing this topic to our notice. I have asked the concerned team to investigate the issue and take appropriate action.
I also have a request - whenever you come across such violations, do report it via the Contact us link (on top of every eBay page). This ensures that the complaint reaches the concerned team directly and gets actioned immediately. While we do monitor boards on a regular basis, at times we miss out on topics or might across them after substantial time has lapsed. And obviously, you do not feel good about it.
On the topic of eBay employees selling on site - please allow me to assure you that eBay employees are expected to follow policies far more diligently than eBay users. In fact if an eBay employee is selling on site, all his listings will carry a line saying that he is an eBay employee.
Also, If you have complained agasint a policy violation, it is because you want the site to remain good for all users. We appreciate the fact and encourage you to do the same.
Once again my thanks for bringing this to our notice and apologies for the dealy that happened.
Regards,
Sapana

When a violation is reported to the TnS team, they investigate if it is a violation. If it is a violation (which it is in this case), they investigate / check if the member has been warned regarding that violation earlier. If it is a first time violation, the member can get punishment ranging from a warning to suspension from the site (depending on the violation).
This helps us ensure that a member who has made a mistake gets a chance to rectify his mistake, while harsher action is taken agasint a member who is violating by intent.
I hope the above gives some clarification. Please feel free to write back in case you have further questions.

Sapana

I had reported the same violation to the Trust & Safety team and got a reply as on 06.06.07 that T & S that they are investigating the metter.
I was surprised that everyhting was made clear in the message, that contact numbers are being displayed openly and still T & S team will investigate?
I feel really sad if this is what you call Trust and Safety team. The buyers are really on a high risk if such Trust and Safety team is working on eBay.
BTW the telephone number is still on the website!
Thnx,
Shishir.
