Power Seller Criteria - Vote it Out

Hello Everybody,

There are changes in the Power Seller Criteria which raises the minimum average Sales required from Rs.5,000 to Rs.20,000.

Is it justified ?

ebay-India is trying to match it with ebay-USA where the criteria for Bronze Power Seller is $1000.

Taking into account that 1$ = Rs.40 .... Power Seller status should have been at Rs.40,000 worth of Sales per month. But Indians are being offered at a Sales figure of Rs.20,000. (50% discount)

But what ebay-India is not looking into is the amount of Sales an average Seller is having.

On ebay-USA there are more than 1.5 crores Live Listings as compared to ebay-India where there are just 1.25 lakhs Live Listings. There are massive Sales on ebay-USA and $1000 criteria is quite justified.

Upholding Community Values, maintaining 98% Feedback, clean ebay account and complying with all Policies .... All these have taken a back seat and Sales figure of Rs.20,000 have overnight become the Main criteria.

Apart from status PS Logo ... ebay was distributing packing material to all Power Sellers. This was the only recurring expense which ebay India was shelling out of their pocket. Now it seems that it has started pinching ebay-India and wants to reduce the Power Sellers in India.

So rather than denying the Packing material they seems to have come up with an immediate solution .... ๐Ÿ™‚

Many New Sellers I know where just working hard to achieve this status PS logo .... would definitely be discouraged now as the target has been increased 4 folds.

I feel the increase from Rs.5000 to Rs.20000 should have been over a period of 1 year. This would have given reasonable time to serious sellers to work hard and push their sales. Un-realistic goals cannot encourage anybody to attain the targets.

This ebay step is not to encourage Seller's to achieve higher Sales but it's a specifically created Criteria to knock down the number of growing Power Sellers.

I am sure that the existing Power Sellers with much higher Sales would support this ebay move.

I am also sure that serious Sellers with lower Sales would not favour this at all.

It's just a debate to see how many are in favour and how many against it.

So guys ..... just VOTE it out.

Are you in FAVOUR ..... or ..... are you AGAINST it ? .

best regards

Hi,
'Only casual sellers , sellers using unfair practices and people with multiple id's will be affected.'!!!!
What do you mean by that??
I got 100% FB.
I sold at an average of 5 items to each buyer.
My star rating is probably the best.
Dont underestimate me.
I sell intellectual items which you cant dream of.I need to read a lot to list my items.
Dont equate me with sellers selling Chinese goods.
Mind your language in the community board in future.
Thanx,
Truly,
Amitava

hello amita
FIRST of all why do you think my observation was directed towards you ?
but now since you've allready made up your mind
you yourself say that you want to work in relaxed way
you like company of other site people
you enjoy your work and so on
so you do put yourself as a casual seller

A business seller cannot say he wants to work in relaxed way .
its not acceptable in todays fierce competition
i am not underestimating you ....
you yourself are underestimating you ... if not then you surely will be able to gross 20 k ... relax
and my language was never offensive and will never be
so dont try to fend off somebody by putting false allegations ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi,

No seller should be underestimated (whether he/she is casual seller or powerseller)

Umang, you are correct! Most of the sellers are forgetting that one of the eBay Community values which you pointed in one of the previous post.

Amitava, I know you better than others. There is no need to introduce yourself to users who doesn't respect your hardwork. ---------------

And no seller should be overestimated
just because he is hard working
a community champion
or having 100 percent feedback
or selling intellectual things
final score will always be the amount that you sell
90 percent of sellers on ebay work hard ... so what ??
kisi pe ehsaan ho raha hai kya ??
They are doing it for themselves.

Quite surprised that you speak your mind even when you perhaps even dont know what is ebay. I may be completely wrong because looking at your username you could be a not-so-brave seller using a proxy name to speak .

Or perhaps you have plenty of time to fool around making fiery comments in forums just to infuriate some good people around.

There is an effort going here in this thread if you can locate that, to raise a voice .

Some of us do feel where the shoe pinches so we are trying have a healthy debate here. But sadly my friend you are not helping .

Why not find another board say for example meant for buyers which will probably suit you more ? This board is for feedback to ebay thread , dont you feel that you are not qualified enough for this thread with your zero feedback.

We will take your comments and amuse ourselves from here on . Enjoy your stay .

Hello All,

First i would like to say i am not in this discussion and the below explanation is my observation in life.

Though i am not in this discussion, i would like to share my experience about professional services and part time services in my life.

Professional services are for mass volume, for example if you are running a full time Hotel serving food, you need to have 500 customer daily and you have to employ 10 staff and you need run a system properly full time and make money. This is business and even a bus full of people enter in the shop they can manage to cater for all. The food may not be as great as prepared at home but will be eatable some times. Hotels are commercially registered, they charge tax, VAT etc. Definitely these people make good profit because they run for profit.

I don't know you people ever eaten in a home run small food center or it is called mess. Basically family members run the small mess with 2-3 tables in side home. They do limited service with out much investment and target certain group. The price may not be as expensive as Hotels, but affordable for people eating regularly and the taste will be excellent and food tastes homely. Though they cannot make big profit like the above said Hotels, but they make some money with limited service. Both Customer and Mess owner happy doing business each other. These people does not charge anything extra than food, and not registered with any authority. Some extraordinary mess make good profit as well because of regular customer.

One Full Time commercial food service another part time small mess. So how to rate them ?

@coolbrass..

Not sure what you were implying but the case here is of apples and oranges . So the rating here cant be done because they are not the same things . So they can bith be A+ in their own league.

@blogram

Now this posting of yours is indeed a welcome change. Facts are always welcome. We all know Amitava , snrama, umang , runalaila as our torch bearers in the selling community. I have myself learnt from them in Eklavya mode . So I had to come hard on you to defend my Gurus being questioned.

But now this Ankush guy you mentioned , I will call him a street smart chap. He had a clear strategy in mind and working through a plan . Till late July he exploited eBay's loophole and incapability by selling his gmail invites. But look at him now ! He is polished , flamboyant and making a good deal for him selling some swanky gadgets to die for including iphone. No more invites stuff in his offering. I will agree with you here that he is not a PS in true sense and eBay should investigate which I think is not going to happen.

And I can see where you are coming from and and making sense. So keep the views healthy and we will welcome you with open arms.

i will stop posting.

if you like something you will welcome and if you dont like , you will try to ward off the poster ??

you call the guy street smart
but now such street smart people will need to spend more
so the new criteria is welcome
