Please change the sequence of posts in a thread.

The sequence of posts in a thread, as it is now presented, has the first reply at the bottom, and the newest one just below the original post (OP). This is very unnatural, especially when there are many long replies in a thread.

Many of the replies comment on or contradict a previous reply. With the present arrangment, it is difficult to follow the way the discussion is going.

To follow a thread, one has to read the OP, then scroll down to the top of the bottom message. If the message is too long to fit on the screen, we have to scroll down to read the whole message; then jump upwards to the top of the next reply, scroll down again to read the whole message; then jump upwards again to the top of the next message, scroll down again to read it; and so on and on.....

It will be much easier to follow a thread if it is arranged like this -

This way, only a downward, progressive scrolling is needed to read the whole thread. It is much more natural. Please change the present arrangement, eBay.

oh yes defintely this suggestion has a lot of weight
i must admit most of his posts are crap
but this post is meaningful
it will help all if suggestions provided by pimpom are considered

Thanks for posting your concern and I agree that at times the sequence can be counter-intutive. However, the logic for having latest post appear on top of the discussion was to ensure that a user gets to read the latest post first and be updated on the topic. For threads with low number of posts, the sequence is of lesser importance, since it is easy for a user to scroll down and read all the posts. For longer threads, it is virtually impossible for a reader to go through all the posts and thus it is helpful to have the latest posts on the top.

I hope I clearly communicated my point of view on the topic. Do feel free to post your agreement or disagreement.

I do have to say that your boards here are wonkier than all the other global boards.... 😉 Why is it not consistent with the other sites?

I am pretty sure this site is the only like this.

I post on the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore & Philippines site (sure I missed one) and they are not at all like this. .
