Online Workshop with Category Manager, Technology Categories!

Hello everyone,

I'm Rajsekaran (Raj), Category Manager, Technology Categories, eBay India.

I'm really excited to be here on the community boards. Technology categories are dynamic and Price Leadership is the need of the hour. Also with innovative technology products hitting the markets everyday we need to ensure that we not only have them on our platform for seeking buyers but we also have enough range in them. This is a great forum where we can share and understand how best we can serve the sellers to achieve these goals.

I will be here for an hour from 4 – 5 PM on Tuesday, 6th May to answer your questions regarding Selling in Technology categories*.

Dear Raj,

Its pleasure to see you on boards. As you might be aware, I list a lot of products under Computers & Peripherals.

There should be a frequent category update on most of tech categories.

I am selling Transcend 16 GB and 32 GB Pendrives, So putting them under "8GB or more" (under USB Drives) may go my listings unnoticed.

You can also introduce a sub-category like Transcend, Kingston. This may increase sales. ---------------

Hello Raj,

It's great to see you here with such an initiative.

BRANDS play an important role in building up the Market Place.

Also, I am aware that our Country Head Mr. Ambareesh Murty is quite inclined towards promoting Brands.

But .... unfortunately .... regular promotion of Brands have taken a back seat and the stress is more on weekly Mega Promotions with lowest quote.

Such Promotions .... I feel .... may help only in short term gains .... and can never build up a strong Base for the Market Place.

Few Sellers with specific products which can generate higher volumes may only benefit out of such promotions.

I strongly feel that .... nothing has been done so far to promote Brands on a regular basis.

Although one initiative ..... BRAND STREET .... which there for sometime has now been removed from the Home Page since many months.

Would like to know if you have any Plan to promote BRANDS on a regular basis. .

To add a word to mysalesoffer (833 ) - Nowadyas you have Chinese manmade Rudrakshas - which in my humle opinion should NOT be allowed on ebay as they are fake and may create confusions in the mind of the buyers .

Dear snrama,

Thanks for the suggestion. During our last category update we included 8GB which was the maximum capacity available in the market that time. Since we have 16GB & 32 GB Pen Drives available now, we will include them in our next category update this month. We will also recommend for adding leading brands like Sandisk, Transcend & Kingston as sub categories in Pendrive Category.

Dear Indconcepts,

We are working on bringing more brands directly or indirectly through sellers on eBay. We had created new home page recently and due to technical issues “Brand Street” is not getting reflected in it. We are working on it and will have “Brand Street” Banner in the Home Page at the earliest.

In “Deals of the Week” for last couple of promotions, we added more links for promoting similar items and accessories from other sellers.

The categories structure in the mobile category also requires many update. (eg: there is no category fro HTC mobiles)
