This is an interesting initiative, But Managing COD is a complicated process. There are many issues like...
1) What about the return shipments where buyer refused to pay cash, is there some penalty to be paid by seller if the buyer refuses to pay at the time of delivery. Is there some kind of cost of returning the parcel back to the seller city ?
2) If the buyer refuses to pay will the product sent back to us in the same condition in which it was sent earlier. The biggest issue with COD is that the product, if buyer refuses to pay, is returned back by surface ( Railways) mode, and is often returned in damaged, crushed or broken state so it becomes a complete loss.
3) The price of Paisapay COD is 5% or Rs 125 which every is higher, what About the Weight category 100g , 500g, 1 kg ... Is it same for all weights .. pls clarify .
Cheers,

This looks like a tremendous effort from eBay to increase the business of all sellers.
There is a huge number of buyers in India who still are not comfortable paying online.
They would now go ahead and order on COD.
The charges too seem very reasonable. We are anyway paying 4% towards PaisaPay and now with just 1% extra the freight is also taken care off.

I think 5% or Rs 125 will be extra for COD beside 4% for paisapay. Anyway it's a good effort but will they be able to manage it?
Best Wishes

1. No, There is no penalty to sellers for buyer refusals. In the initial phase, eBay shall absorb the cost of RTOs & the seller will not the charged anything in case of returns.
2. In the case of PaisaPay COD, product returns will be done via Air & not surface transport negating chances of damages which may be high in surface mode.
3. In the initial phase, eBay will not charge differential rates for shipping heavy weight items or on the basis of volumetric calculations. The rates will be as mentioned earlier @ 5% of value or Rs 125 whichever is higher.

Since PaisaPay COD will be integrated on the eBay platform, there is a very limited chance of anything going wrong. We shall share more details with you as the launch date gets near.
