New fees Policy: 1 week of new fees policy killing us, eBay please save !!!

Dear Fellow Sellers,

I would like to share my experience after the new fees policy is effective. I feel the worst heat now. My listing did not change (Instead of 20 listing daily in online auction format, now listing 10 to minimize my budget, rest of them listed in shop view), but my sales just 25% (For example before if i was selling Rs.2000 per week in average, last week 1-7 April is just Rs.500 only) of my average sale of previous weeks. This is a worst situation for me do business with eBay. I really don't understand what is happening in eBay ?

Unlike other sellers i supported new fees policy because of duplicate listing by fellow sellers and poor buyer experience. But the effect is very negative for my sales. I hope eBay will do something to save us, doing good business before and facing a crisis from past week.Tomorrow i will be receiving a cheque of lowest sales in past 6 months. This sales is same for another 4 weeks (a month), i will have to close down the shop to avoid further loss.

What will be eBay's reply ?

eBay please do something to save us !!!

Fellow sellers how is your sales, what is your opinion ? Please dont forget to post your feedback as well.

hi shivarth,

There are various ways to increase buyers to your shop. One of the more popular ways is to have a balance of listings on core site and give ample exposure of the shop listings in the core listings. If all your listings are in shop, then only buyers who know your id can come to your shop. With all listings in shop, you will miss out on new buyers.

Also, I saw that you have lot of loose gemstones. A special promotion is on whereby listings of loose gemstones with ILF are being promoted to international buyers. This promotion has benefitted lot of sellers selling loose gemstones with ILF. A similar promotion is scheduled to go live for local buyers as well. You may want to participate in these promotions to boost your sales.

Again, please do not hesitate to reach out to your account manager to talk about ways and means to increase your sales. They will be glad to assist you to the best of their ability.

Regards,
Sapana

Hi shree_krishna_gems,

The category in which you are selling is doing specifically well these days. Some sellers are benefiting a lot, however, sellers who have lot of listings in Shop are getting the minimum benefit.

While a seller needs to balance his expenses with core vs Shop listings, it is important for us to choose the listings judiciously. In an offline world, if you have a shop, you will have a shop window or shop front. You will place some products in the window which you think will attract most buyers. Rest products you will keep at the back of the store. If you shift good products to the back of the store, then buyer might not come to you. As a seller we may have to do some trail and effort before we figure out our individual strategies that suits us best.

In the short run, you may want to participate in the promotion where loose gemstones listings with ILF are being promoted to international buyers. Also, my experience in jewellery category tells that it is an auction driven category. You may want to attract more buyers to your listings by putting few products in one paisa free shipping auctions. That is another area on the site which draws huge number of buyers.

Another important thing is to coordinate your promotions and listings. A seller told me how he makes a monthly calendar on what all products he wants to sell and therefore the promotion plan for those listings. For example, if he list 10 wallets he ensure that at least 3 are on one paisa free shipping, 2 are on normal auction and 5 are on fixed price. The seller also continuously experiments with his strategy to find areas of improvement. You may want to consider something similar.

I hope the above provide you some pointers. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your account manager to talk more about ways and means to increase your sales.

Sapana

Hi amitava da (amitava123gems),

I went through your listings and saw that you have only fixed price listings (mostly shop listings I guess). Coins and stamps are an auction oriented category. If you have products that you think are slow moving (like the Philippines/USA Jose Rizal Japanese black bar for just Rs30), you may want to offer the product on one paisa free shipping and see the response that it generates. You may be able to speed up the movement of slow moving product. Even in FMCG industry promotions are a great way to spped up the movement of inventory.

Another interesting thing to do is to keep yourself abreast of what buyers are looking for. You can use the eBay pulse - coins and stamps category to see what products are being searched by buyers. In the following link, you can actually find out the top searched key words for the category and the subcategories. http://pulse.ebay.in/Coins-Stamps_W0QQsacatZ11116

The above are just suggestions. I will be glad if they will help you increase your sales.

Also, I hope you are in better health now! Do take care of yourself.

Warm regards,
Sapana

Dear Sapana,

Thanks for kind reply/tips and understanding our situation. I had 50% online fixed format and rest in shop before. Right now i have 30% listing in online fixprice format and rest in my shop. I am worried this is not the right time to list 50% of my items in the online fix format. It is very risky, atleast if i catch 50% of my previous sales i can take a risk. Also, as i said before 30-40 % of my monthly sales is from my old customers, they just come to my shop buy items. Some customer buy each month atleast 1 item. They are not showing up from begining of this month. Probably i will experiment the things you have explained next month only.

Atleast if eBay gives us some listing fees rebate on unsold online format items, i can take some risk. If i sell eBay is going to get final value fees, will be win-win situation for both of us. Please help !!!

Kind regards,
CoolBrasCo.

Hello sister,
coolbrasco is right.
Also let us allow to publish the names of non paying bidders. They cost our hard earned money.
And this tribe knows how to give -ve.
And some high FB holders also do it deliberately.
And they are not ashamed of their conduct.
I hate them guys, why do they ROB us like this?
I am sorry to say that Indians have the MOST highest number of nonpaying bidders.I am telling this from my records.I am disgusted with them.
Sell items in core area and draw more nonpaying bidders. If they are not ashamed to rob us,atleast let us highlight their IDs.
HERE ON THE COMMUNITY BOARD.
Thanx,
Truly,

i to feel that ebay has always been a greedy lot. they cheated me on my previous acc. where a buyer paid them thru fake credit card and after 6 months i had to pay for him or they would not release my paise payments. that time i suffered a double loss of 2000rs and now this looting fees on everything. selling, paise pay and worse on listing.

Dear Sapna,

Thanks for reply. I participated in 1 paisa + free shipping auction. My experiance was not good with promotion. Recently my item ended in Rs. 1900/- a Ruby strand. While i listed it in shop category rs. 3900/- There are huge differance in actual price and selling price. In all my previous 1 paisa + free shipping auction i got loss only.
