It is surprising most of the products bought on e-bay remained defective

Before buying anything on e-bay someone must understand that the quality of most of the products may not be up to the mark. At the first instance, the products looks excellent, however after a few days they become partially/fully defective/unusable. If we put negative feedback then e-bay court dismisses based on the voting (majority of the voters seem to be sellers). This is based on my experience, wherein, several products became partially defective/unusable especially electronic items (touch screed mobile phones, TV/projector mobile, spy cam,CCTV cam and inflatable 5-in-1 air sofa). It is difficult to find time to follow-up the sellers for rectification, as some sellers tell lies. SO, decide carefully before buying. I know that e-bay will reply to defend, but truth cannot be negated. I am waiting for a few months before cancelling my e-bay ID.

@sohail_sta...

How do you blame ebay for such product. You should be well aware that the product you have mentioned like "touch screed mobile phones, TV/projector mobile, spy cam,CCTV cam and inflatable 5-in-1 air sofa" are all cheap Chinese products and hence you will have bad experience. To get good expreience you have shell out more money and buy good brand products. When you pay peanuts you get monkeys, what else.

So if you would have bought all this from your local china bazaar they would have given you full service and follow up do you think ???

If you are so conscious try buying designer and branded goods, please understand the money which you pay is a factor in everthing, there is no free lunch, if you buy a goods woth few hundreds of rupees, the dealers then selves donot manufacture it, thus they while trading ususally operate at around maximum of 10 percent margin, after deducting all expenses.

Now in branded goods dealers are given 1.5 to 2 percent margins, as most of the headache of customer service is taken over by brand owners, which charge you sometimes 4 times to 5 times the value of the goods.

For example a generic fm transmitter is available cheapest on ebay for 219rs and the same belkin cheapest is available for 2500rs now, you utilise your logic , if you pay a seller for 219rs worth gadget a 2500rs, he is bound to give you warranty, and service, thus everthing is included in the price, Brands are nothing but, they take lot of money in advance for all the customer care and service, and generics are all post paid.

But both will sometime falter down, only difference is branded is prepaid warranty and generic is post paid warranty.

i hope this will help you make better descisions in future.

Chinese products ROCK !! Very often i say, but not always. Like any other product for that matter. Just do your due diligence, thats all.

u must read this book - Superpower ( i have it listed...lol ) by Raghav bahl, then u will learn abot our vast & powerful neighbor. Even apple, Acer and dell maufactures in China (in their quality controlled factories actually). Much like Ralph lauren, Macys, saks fifth avenue, levis etc. have facilities in India!

So stop stereotyping the Chinese.. i love chinese products and chinese food too. Pls stop bad mouthing ALL chinese products - chinese are my brothers and sisters!

I agree with you Raj. However, I am surprised when e-bay is promoting such cheap products and spoil its image. Not only that the e-bay court, rather helping the buyer, gives decision in favour of the seller. One negative feedback, which was removed by the e-bay was about Mumbai based seller of a air sofa (advertising no guarantee). the defective sofa is still lying without any use.The seller also gave a very non-sense and false reply. After the final decision of the e-bay court, I decided to repair it. But the the repair kit was empty (totally dried up). I could not do it. I tried with the fevistick but could not fully seal the punctured points which were left originally by the seller. Now I have just thrown it in my drawing hall. I am not getting time to repair it again, because my time is more important than the price of the sofa.

The point is when a seller openly states that he will not take any guarantee for selling the defective or cheap product, then wby e-bay should promote such seller. In case e-bay wants to promote such seller, then e-bay should clearly state that this is kawari ki dukan and buyer should buy without hoping for a good product. Then buyer will not approach e-bay. Also, why negative feedback? and why e-bay court?
