Hello Ram,
It is a cultural issue. Normally many foreigners does not understand the cultural values and religion in India. I have already sent a message to the seller that showing Hindu Gods in background of a shoe is an insult to the God. I have asked him to remove the picture and write in background that this is from India, or put any picture, but not temples and Gods. I hope he will do it.
It can happen in any country because of lack of knowledge. Some time back American company introduced a toilet seat with Ganesh printed on it, and later withdrawn from sales. The reason they gave is, seeing Ganesh early in the morning brings good luck to them, so they used picture on toilet seat.
Ganesh is an universal God now a days. All over South East Asia people keep in every shop and do Pooja daily. The funny thing is instead of offing food for Ganesh, they offer Pepsi, Coke, Cakes, Snacks in front of God. Some Foreigners collect Ganesh from many different countries. Even people print on T-Shirts. Basically Ganesh is very popular.
I saw a T-Shirt called "Popular DJ Series". Einstein, Gandhi, and other populars wearing headphones and playing disks and pose as DJ's. So basically people try to make business out of popularity with out knowing about them.
Another most popular series is about George Bush series. It is more funny.
Kind regards,
CoolBrasCo.
