As has been pointed out many times, many a times, the merchant charges lower 'price' and then adds it up on the courier / misc charges. This way he gets the following advantages:
1. The item shows a higher listing as a 'low' price item
2. The customer who is not familier with the system may get cheated .
Besides, it makes comparisons difficult.
I would suggest the following to regulate it.
1.All listing should be evaluated on Nett price to customer.i.e. Ebay should focus on cost to customer as the criteria.
2.At random identify such merchants & penalise / fine them.
Personally, I would find it difficulat to trust a merchant that resorts to the above. 'Discounts' on more items are not to be considered as they are conditional & not certain.
