Dear Ebayers,

Please let me understand the Documentation for exporting through courier,

Assuming that:
- I have completed all the required registrations, company registration, IEC, Etc.
- All the shipments is below 500 USD
- I will only accept payment through swift transfer or USD cheques.
- I dont want to claim any duty drawback.

Will it be enough if I just prepare a Commercial Invoice & Hand over the same for export to a reputed courier company.

The courier company will just issue me a Air Way Bill & proof of delivery.

Do I need to get the invoice stamped by my Bank or Courier Company or Customs.

I have heard that for shipments below 1000 USD there is no need for any PP /GR/SDF form, can some point me to the RBi notification.

Also the FIRC/BRC part, how much does the bank charge for this, and what od i need to submit to the bank.

Please do participate in this discussion,

Thanks in advance,

Shiva

Dear Sir I do not know whether ebay responded to you or not but I am an exporter and perhaps I can answer your questions to some extent
Please take note:
1.Under Swift Transfer approximately US$ 17.50 are deducted from the amount transfered by the foreign correspondant bank
This amount may increase if more than one bank is involved in the transaction
2.Your Indian bank will charge minimum Rs 25o/- for each transaction
3.It is wrong to assume that there is no requirement of SDF/GR form for exports under US$2500 per consignment. The only waiver available is that you do not have to get it released from RBI. This saves the bank charges.
4. Your Bank will periodically ask you to provide details of exports made against payment received. or SDF/GR forms filled up

5.Getting FIRC is optional if the amount is less than US$ 2500. It is in your own interest to get it .There is no official requirement see point no, 3 above.

My bank charges Rs 250 per Firc

For your convenience, I would like to inform you that Fedex has a scheme where packets are clubbed for export and then split for individual delivery.
This reduces freight rates significantly.
However, to avail of this facility you need to have an IOR -- " Importer On Record" in the country where you want to export

6. Do not forget to add Custom Clearance charges in India to freight Your courrier will tell you
best of luck

Further please take note
1. You need to make packing list too with each consignment
2.You do not have to get your papers signed/stamped from bank
3.Besides Airway bill the courrier MUST also provide Shipping bill ( papers filed with Customs) to you

4. You also have to make an SLI- Shippers Letter of Instructions. This is a standard format provided by courrier

So practically you need to make only three documents
invoice
packing list
and SLI. Rest of the documentation will be handled by courrier/ their custom clearance agent

5. You must check the transit risk policy of the courrier. Fedex accepts approximately Rs 800 per KG if the packet is lost/ damaged. This is in addition to waiver of freight charges

6. They do not carry high value items easily( like gem stones/ jewellry). The risk is too much.
You have to obtain a transit risk insurance policy from an insurer like National insurance or Iffo-Tokio.

Courriers also provide insurance -- in addition to carriers liability mentioned above

Hello,

Thanks very much for your post. It is very appreciated.

Regarding the Bank charges & Courier/Rates I think I will be able to absorb it. But definitely it will not be worth for sending low value items.

I have spoken about this to RBI Officer (unofficially), My Local Bank, few Courier Companies, and a CA all are of the opinion that only the following documents are required, if the value of exported goods are less than Rs.10,000/-.
1. Air Way Bill as proof of export.
2. Commercial Invoice & Packing List.
3. FIRC/BRC to prove that foreign exchange have been received and accounted for.
4. There is no need for any GR/SDF/PP Form. ( http://rbidocs.rbi.org.in/rdocs/Notification/PDFs/71256.pdf ) Refer to Para A.2.

Hope more ebayers share their opinion and views.

Thanks again,

Shiva
