Do you feel that allowed shipping time is too much?

Ebay gives the seller one week time to ship an item. Do you think it is too much?. I do.
If the seller has the item ready in store, I think it can be shipped within two days unless you order it at the start of holidays. Many sellers are using this 1 week window period as an excuse to delay shipping.
My suggestions to prevent this.
1. Reduce the allowed time to 5 days or less
2. Along with the use of user satisfaction rating on delivery time(As a part of DSR), ebay can add average shipping time(Time between order and product shipping) maintained by the seller to his ratings.
This way if a user want his item to be shipped and delivered quickly he/she can select the seller with the shortest time in shipping.
Of course there are many bottlenecks in this method like ordering in the evenings or at night when most of the shops will be physically closed, ordering at the start of holidays etc. But I think at least some of us will benefit from this.

i dont thnk so your suggestion is good because we sellers tried our best to ship at earliest but sometimes the situation is very far from us, as sometimes we didnt get stock, sometimes manufacturing takes times, we all know none of the ebay sellers having all the items in hand / ready stock and packed, we have few govt holidays also, and few times due to transportation we got stock in our office late due to the traffic jam etc and as i am manufacturing hundreds of items , but still in few items its takes atleast 5 to 6 days to get ready, ebay gives us 7 days time, whether you ordered on saturday / monday ... however saturday is almost like a half day and sunday is holiday..and no one work in nights also
So in my opinion , we ( sellers ) are trying our best to ship at earliest and i think ebay 80% order shipped within 3 days...

So in my view 7 days are not at all short.......

The reason why ebay has allows sellers 7 days is because not all sellers have the complete stock of their inventory listed on ebay.

You will notice that some sellers like me usually ship within 6 hrs to 18 hrs max as we have stock of all the items listed in our inventory because we also have a retail outlet so stock keeping is a must but some sellers on ebay do back order for items and hence there is a delay in dispatch or the seller refunds your payment if he cannot procure your item.

My personal opinion is that the lead time can be reduced to 5 days but the buyer also should reciprocate by promptly marking "item received" so that the sellers can get their payment on time.

Yes I also believe that dispatch time should be a DSR parameter and not the time taken by the courier company to deliver the consignment.

7 Days is Required.

Sellers usually take 6-12Hrs to Dispatch Order,Usually it will reach the buyer with in 2-3 days.The Transportation is the cause of delay. In order to get a time Framework ebay had set it to 7day

I agree that not everyone has everything in stock. But if they need time to get the item ready for shipping, they can always mention this in the listing or can communicate with the buyer, instead of keeping them in dark.

I have ordered a deal of the week item on a Tuesday afternoon. The item is still not shipped even by the time I am writing this. That means 6 and a half days. This is sometimes irritating don't you think?
