Cause for Change in Feedback System.......

hello... again....i propose to suggest a small change in the feedback system..... Feedback is a sort of reward for a genuine buyer and seller..... how about if we guest ebay to introduce a feedback system wherein for every Rs.100/- worth of Purchase a Buyer gets 1 Feedback point.... Also we cud have a system of bonus points wherein if a buyer buys an item worth 1000 he gets 10 Bonus Feedback Points which gives him a total 20 feedback points, a buyer buying above Rs. 5000/- Gets 100 Bonus Feedback Points, and a buyer buying above 10,000 gets 250 Bonus Feedback Points. i am sure if these points are allowed to be redeemed for small ebay merchandise like pens, Tshirts etc.. there wud be many many more genuine Bidders and near to 95% fulfillment in transactions. this system is currently follwoed in the case of credit cards which encourages users to buy more on their cards...!!! what Say Amitava, Atul, Navneet..and the Rest....?:-D

apart from the above matters...a user making payment thru paisa pay could get bonus points...thus eliminating chances of unpaid items, or outside ebay trasnactions. like ATM deposit or Bank Transfers. a member making payment within 24 hours, within 25-48 hours and 48 hours and above can be graded difefrently... in the present system, it is common that a seller lists a product at Re. 1 and shipping charges at 2499 thus having unrealistic shipping charges.... this would be avaoided as the seller would be getting points on the basis of the business he generates.. further a seller or a buyer in many cases does not give feedback at all...leaving feedback could also gather some points. fast shipment of products would be encouraged thus reducing the number of disputes. further in the present setup...repeat purchase from the same seller doesnt gather any feedback ratings....say i buy 10 items from amitabh..coz i like the way of dealing with him, i get just one feedback rating though he rates me for all the 10. i have had this experience when in the past i purchased jewellery worth 65000 from PP jewellers around 16 trasnactions..but just got one feedback point. this discourages buyers from repeat purchases unless its absolutely necessary. further the buyers / sellers would be required to redeem the points within a particular period, thus reducing the chances of having 1,00,00,000 points accumulated over a period of 2-3 years...

also let me illustrate how this works.. say a buyer has accumulated about 200000 points.. say 75% of this is the value of business Generated...it would work out to Rs. 150,000. lets assume that ebay has earned a flat 10% on this business generated i.e. Rs. 15000/- of this if ebay gives a small gift such as a pen / t-shirt costing Rs. 150/- which would be less than 0.1% of the revenue earned. this would further e-commerce a lot.. also say there is a jackpot draw at the end of every year...where in the highest point holder gets something special. say total business on ebay generated by him has been about 2,00,00,000. ebay has earned about 20,00,000 of this....it gives him a Maruti car worth Rs, 2,00,000... ebay is happy.. the user is happy... there is an urge to make more business..... amitava, atul, navneeth..what are ur views.....i guess we shud impress ebay to change over to this Indian concept....as the American ideas never work in India.

there should be also negative pointing in the case of failures by the buyer / seller etc... because of which the points accumulated would be reduced at double the speed at which they are earned. a user could end up with -10000 negative points and then be suspended... but the prospect of him winning things...wouldnt let any user to default...

Hi,

Excellent suggestions but I doubt if ebay.in will be able to do such wide range of changes. Something hopeful is that on repeated requests ebay.in has recently given the optional buyer verification preference to the seller, hence, they are not adverse to changes.

I have one more suggestion about redemption of the Feedback points proposed by you and would like to have others opinions regarding that.

The buyers can be given an option to use the redemption points to jump one outbid value. Sounds complicated ......let me explain

For example some buyer is bidding Rs.100 on an item. So to outbid one needs to put a bid of min.150 (100+ 50 min. bid increment for this value). Now if the buyer use the option of feedback point redemption to increase outbid stage, then it will cost him 50 redemption points and to outbid one has to put a min. bid of 200 (100+ 50 redemption points + 50 min. bid increment for this value).

Similarly, if a buyer is bidding at 950 then to outbid him one need to bid min. 1025 (950 + 75 min. increment). If the buyer uses the redemption option then he will loose 75 reward points and to out bid one has to put a min. bid of 1125 (950 +75 redemption + 100 min. increment for values more than 1000).

Buyers can be permitted to increase only 1 outbid stage redemption at a time and max. 2 such uses per item / buyer.

I think if used prudently, such redemptions can be very useful to save some money at the end portion of bidding. The seller will also not loose as the product is selling more than his min. expected value. Moreover this would encourage the buyers to put Feedbacks for each deals hence the loss of feedbacks for the sellers will be reduced. eBay should also give some discount on Fees to the seller if the item closes with one redemption in the last bid.

Hope to receive others view.

Hi,
Forgot to mention in my last mail something about your last comment regarding adaptability of US style policies in India. I fully agree to this. I have many a times reiterated in multiple postings on this board that policies and operations that have excelled in US or Europe may not yield the same result in India as the scenario is significantly different. eBay.in has to change itself, at least superficially, to adapt itself more aptly to the Indian scenario. hmmm...so swarup what you are basically suggesting is a kinda ebay money...hmmm...
i dont know if this ebay money is a really good idea, but i'm all for the reward points scheme..i think thats an excellent way to retain customer interests...
A similar thing which ebay did was for their anniversay celebrations, where such ebay stationary was distributed, virtually every hour for numerous games and contests. Almost anyone who participated went away with half a dozen such stuff...I thought that was a great idea...
this reward points thing could actually work
