I bid for a 1gb mp3 player.
When i got it, it would coppy data upto 1 gb but play only 3-4 songs and loop back to the first song.

First i thought it was some setting that i did not get right. I contacted the seller and he told me that it was absolutely fine and asked me to check the repeat button. I told him I am not that naive. i know how a repeat button works. it will repeat the song but not a set of 3-4 songs.

Then i did lot of r&d and found that there was a global fraud going on with fake usb sticks and fake mp3 players where they show an excess capacity, but actually are nothing like that.

I found a tool on the net called h2testw 1.4. The results of the test it performed startled me. My player had only memory of 25 MB which was real, rest was all bogus and rewritable media. No wonder 3-4 songs were of 25 MB in size.

I wrote back to this seller. He stopped replying after this analysis.
Why would he reply. He got his money through paisapay.
I am just wondering if aware people like me can get cheated by such people, i really dont know what the not-so-net-savvy or 'inquisitive' people would have done.

Is there anyways i can get a refund of the amount? Its just 3-4 days since i got the delivery.
I have all proof available with me.
Please help.

Hi,

You can claim item not received in paisapay and get your money back.

If time has expired for item confirmation, open a item not as described dispute and you will get your money back.

This fake memory mp3 players have killed the market for hte gunuine guys.

Ask your seller for a refund, if he refuses then do as deveshbhai as said, file a "item not as described" dispute with ebay ASAP.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It is encouraging to see genuine people like you all.
I will file a dispute as the seller is not responding either to messages through ebay or calls.

dear dreamyfantasy,

i managed to close my case yesterday finally.
I got a replacement mp3 player which does not have internal memory but has a provision for SD card. So i settled for it in exchange.
I am using it with my SD card now, but still i would caution you against these chinese mp3 players.
During the case, the seller himself admitted that these are chinese and many sellers have these problems with these mp3 players.
So think twice before you put your money on them.
Infact, as devesh bhai mentioned, better avoid such players and go for the genuine ones.
I just got a little swayed by looking at the low price, but they are not worth a penny.

thanks akshakakkar for bringing this to the notice of all buyers.

i had done a similar r&d and found that this is not just a problem with mp3 players, but a much wider one that includes USB sticks and SD cards also. And not just chinese brands but leading brands like sandisk. Apparently, there are machines available that can reprogram the chipset of a USB drive/SD card to display higher capacity than it really is. And not just in ebay India but all over the world.

I used to think eBay is gr8 for electronic deals but after being sold a lot of OEM versions for retail price and other such issues, i don't trust eBay for electronics at all. Better to buy from reputed retail stores like Next & Vijay Sales or an authorized dealer who gives a genuine warranty. -- Signature: I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
