1 Paisa Auction is a fraud

When I first saw the 1 paisa auction on ebay, I was overjoyed that I will be able to buy some goodies for very low prices. But when I bade for some items I found that sellers are managed to sell their item at some predetermined minium values, for which the item is also availble by "Buy Now" method. After a little research I found that the seller themselves were outbidding for the item with fake user ids till their desired value is reached. This is absolutely cheating. I understand that no seller wants to sell item for a loss. But if so why the drama of one paisa sale? just wasting time of newbies like me. Also I found sellers charging different courier charges for the same item. I dont understant how come an item as small as a pen weighing just a few grams wrapped in a carboard box can attract Rs. 600/- shipping cost? ebay must do something to stop this malpractice by sellers, otherwise potential buyers like me will lose interest in this website.

Hi,

This has become common with most of the sellers. eBay has made a new policy for abnormal shipping charges. It may take some time for sellers to change all the listings. ---------------

Hi,

Nobody will sale a product for 1 paisa incurring a loss. One has to check whether the final value of the product is lucrative or not.

As Navaneeth has said, eBay has done some policy changes with regard to the courier charges. Hope the abnormal shipping charges will be irradicated from eBay soon. .
Best Regards 😄

Hi,

I have no idea whether the shipping and handling fee is charged by ebay or the seller. For some items, the shipping and handling fee is more than the item cost. This is not good and to be curbed.

Hi,

Well, let's see... first of all online shopping requires a lot of guile, insight and the uncanny knack of finding out the black from the lentil (dal mein kaala, LOL).

India being a huge market, you cannot vouch for every seller to be genuine and nice. So, beware of the scam-like offers...

Secondly, the best way to clear up the issues and doubts about the shipment or packaging of your product is directly asking the seller.

Just ask the question as to why is the shipping value so ridiculously high as you would ask while shopping in person. Communication can do wonders!

Best regards,

Abhy

Besides, heavy shipping charges, another tool the seller enjoys in a paisa pay auction is that he can refuse delivery of item, in case he feels that the auction has been won, at lower than the market rate, or the market rate could have gone higher. This has happened to me & even e-bay "purchase protection scheme" did nothing but to advise that one may take its "PAID AMOUNT" back, which also in my case never came back. I lodged my claim on "PURCHASE PROTECTION SCHEME" OF E-BAY, but that too was closed automatically within 90 days period, when the seller didn't respond.

THE WHOLE PROCESS IS A HOAX & TOTALLY TILTED TOWARDS SELLER. IT IS LIKE ANOTHER CHINA MARKET, A PLATFORM PROVIDED BY E-BAY, WHERE SELLER, BY PAYING A FEE TO E-BAY CAN LEGALLY FLEECE THE CUSTOMERS, ELECTRONICALLY.
