Now, eBay India employee defaults as Seller!

On 17th Feb 2009, I purchased a digicam from an ebay seller who was also an ebay employee.

I paid immediately using my credit card on PaisaPay and then waited for the seller to respond. After multiple attempts through eBay messages and phone calls that went unanswered, he finally responded saying he would ship the item.

Two days later, I see that the status of that item is showing as Shipped. Then, a few hours later, I get an ebay message from him that the digicam got damaged in transit and that I should claim for a refund.

Now comes the best part - eBay does not allow me to file any claim or mark the item as Not Received for 10 days! This, in spite of a message from the seller saying he's not going to send any thing.

Several attempts to eBay's call centre proved useless - all I can do is wait for the seller to initiate the refund and wait another 10 days before it starts getting processed!

Imagine, I get penalised for paying on time, that too when the defaulting seller is an eBay employee!!!

Here's his profile page:

eBay India really deserves to be taken to the consumer courts...

Sir,

Who told you Mr Praveen Pawar is an ebay employee. He is a seller like many other sellers on ebay. Always check a persons feedback before placing the order.

Thanks,

Who told you he is not an employee?

I have verified this with a supervisor in the Support Centre. Shouldn't you get your facts straight before commenting on forums for all?

Now, eBay India employee defaults as Seller!

Hello Naveen,

"When eBay company employees list an item for sale on eBay, the eBay company employees must identify themselves as eBay employees and include the link to this Web page in their listing."

If the seller does not mention the above in his listing, he cannot be considered an eBay employee. Hence, if your seller did not have this in his eBay listing, officially he cannot be assumed to be an eBay employee. If you believe he still is an eBay employee then you can write in to eBay USA and bring forth the same.

I really cannot understand why ebay store owners that are unknown to me are taking sides with ebay on this, without even knowing if the facts of my case are substantiated or not! The only explanation I can think of is that they have so much invested in ebay as a store that they're motivated to do this.

That said, after escalating the specifics of this case to a Category Manager at eBay, I did receive a speedy refund of my monies.

Case closed, thanks.
