hi...i came across this gr8 wood item on ebay at a very good price, but the seller who is based in mumbai is charging Rs.100/= as shipping charges for a Rs.100/= item. This is not a furniture item and is not fragile or delicate or heavy. Even watches and other relatively fragile items are shipped at lower shipping rates. This is clearly a case of unreasonable shipping rates and i want to complain about this to ebay. I tried 'report item' option but there is no option there for shipping rates.

Shipping charges always depend on weight of item.Normally good courier company charges rs 50-75 for every 500 gms
even if weight of item is 550 gms they will charge Rs 100
I dont knwo what item you are looking for ..but you can ask seller why he is charging this shipping amount .

i am not disclosing details on purpose because i don't want to make his name public on a whim. But i can tell you for sure that it is not anywhere near 500 gms. I just want to bring it to ebay's attention so they can take it forward. So, where do i complain?

There are courier services like Blue Dart or DHL who would charge a big amount even for just 100 gms. Also shipping charges might include the sellers handling charges. It would be ideal to contact the seller itself to know the reasons for charging ,it depends on the courier service and the weight too. There are some sellers who charge very low shipping cost or even free shipping domestic at their own cost.
Thanks

yes, i agree, and usually i am not one to complain. If i don't like it, i don't buy it. But this is just too blatant and excessive to ignore.
Anyway, i found the option in a very unusual place:
Contact us --> Listing Violations --> Listing Policy Violations --> Circumvention of ebay fees --> Excessive Shipping and Handling
eBay could do with streamlining its options a bit more. -- Signature: I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
