GPRS / WAP settings for China Mobile Incl. i9+++

Hi,

Many users need GPRS / WAP settings for their China mobile purchased on ebay or other sources, so I thought I would start a thread here.

To use GPRS / WAP on your china mobile you need just two setting from your service provider:

1) Access Point Name (APN) and

2) I.P. address.

How to manually set up :-

I will use settings for Aircel wap - you can change it with any service provider.
WAP

***First Step***

1) Main Menu --> Select Services (This may be named variously as net, etc.)
2) Select Data Account - Select GPRS
3) Select the First Entry
4) Edit the account name to whatever you would like
5) Edit the APN to: aircelwap (your service provider settings)
6) Username - leave blank
7) Password - leave blank
8) Edit Auth Type - Normal (if needed)
9) Save

Select Back --> Select Back

***Second Step***

Select WAP
1) Select Settings --> Edit Profile
2) Select the first entry --> Edit Profile
3) Edit the name to whatever you would like
4) Edit Homepage to : http://myaircel.com (your service provider setting)
5) Edit Data Account to the Name you established in the First Setp.
6) Edit Connection type to HTTP
7) Change IP Address is 172.17.83.69 (your service provider address) and the port number is 8080
8) Edit Username to - Blank
9) Edit Password t0 - Blank

Select back or done
Select Activate Account

The above settings are for Aircel Pocket Internet. You just need two seeting APN, IP address and homepage to use it for your service provider.

I will give setting for Airtel here:

APN - airtelgprs.com
IP address - 202.056.231.117
Homepage - http://www.google.com

Request other members to provide settings for other service providers. I will keep updating with other service provider settings.

press any icon in the screen and hold for a few seconds...you will see all the icons are shaking....then if take your finger and touch it...you will get that screensaver

Got It!!! I have tried for that so hard for last 3-4 days but without any success.Thanks for your kind help.Are there any other tricks like one key touch dialling etc?

Hi,

Some seller on ebay are claiming that their i9 phones have 1.3 MP or 2 MP cameras.

Just wanted to clarify that most versions only have a 0.1 MP or a 0.3 MP camera.

320 x 240 resolution = 76800 (less than 0.1 MP)
640 x 480 resolution = 307200 (0.3)also called VGA.

A 1.3 MP camera will have a resolution of 1280 x 960.

Methinks that the standard MTK 6225 processor used in almost all chinese phones does not support camera resolution more than 640 x 480 (VGA).

So if you see any seller claiming he i9 or any other chinese phone which uses the MTK 6225 processor have 1.3MP or 2 MP camera, you can safely conclude that either is an ignorant seller or a fraudster.

I have installed a java game namely sudoku successfully in my i9 phone. But, I am unable to give input as there is no dial pad on the touch screen. How to play the game? Any one please help me. Thanks.

Its difficult to play many games on the i9 phone as many java games require a keypad.

Another fact I would like to point out.

I have had conversations with many manufacturers of i9 phones in China. I believe there are more than 100 factories in China. I have visited a few. Most have confirmed that the phones do not have a unique and genuine IMEI number. So the BAD NEWS is that buyers who have ever bought an i9 phone will stop working after Nov.30.

However the good news is that GSM Association (GSMA) have found a way around the fake IMEI number problem. Users can get a genuine IMEI number implanted on their Chinese mobile phone including the i9 phone for a low fee of Rs.199/-

Hi!Sciphone i9 users!!
I wish to share some good news about its usage. We can download software esp. for java games that are made suitable to work in any other phone model having a full touch screen like ours.
In fact, I have set my phone model as CECT A1000 before downloading the software for java games like sudoku (5ud0ku) and champion (chess) in to my PC and then copied to sciphone. After installation as usual from the phone, the games showed touchpad kind of key input and I have started enjoying playing the games. I have now got answer to my own question posted on this discussion board.
I keep exploring further all its functions and make my experience as well as yours with the phone more exciting!
