Hello Everybody,

As you must be aware, recently eBay has announced the following important changes in the feedback system:
• Neutralizing feedback left by members who don't participate in issue resolution processes
• Removing feedback from users who are indefinitely suspended within 90 days of registration
• Requiring new members to complete a tutorial before leaving neutral or negative feedback

This workshop is aimed at helping you understand the implication of the proposed changes in the feedback system going forward. Staff members from eBay International Trust and Safety team will be available to answer your questions regarding the same. We look forward towards your active interaction in the workshop.

Host: eBay staff
Date: Friday 22nd July
Time: 6.00 to 7.00 PM (IST)

Hi kaya_jewels:

New users/buyers on eBay India who are totally unaware of feedback policy should not be given any option to leave neutral or negative ratings to sellers till their positive feedback reaches 10.

We agree that newbies don’t always understand the feedback system. That’s why one of the changes we’re making will require any member with under10 Feedback who tries to leave a neutral or negative to take a tutorial before leaving the feedback. The tutorial will explaing tips on how to work things out with another member, what the purpose of the feedback system is, how it’s not a communication system, etc. While this still allows a new member to leave a neg or neutral – it will educate them first.

We will monitor how well this new requirement works and make adjustments as necessary.

Thanks,
Matt

Hello princesswalkeshwar_in1 and others,

As you might be aware, one cannot edit ratings on eBay, unlike on Baazee. We understand your concern regarding unjustified negative ratings. Hence these proposed changes to the Feedback system, including a tutorial for new members before leaving neutral or negative feedback. We feel that these changes will reduce such instances.

Regards,
Sanjay

Hi pahitole

We have learned that 3 days may still not be enough time for good members. While every one on this thread probably checks their email every day – many members, especially new members, may only check their email once a week or others may go on vacation. Just because a member checks their email less frequently doesn’t mean they don’t intend to pay.

As a result – we encourage sellers to email their buyers after a few days to remind them and then, if after a week payment still hasn’t occurred, to file an Unpaid Item reminder.

One note – if you state it in your listing that a buyer needs to pay within three days – a seller may relist their item at that point even though the Unpaid Item process has not yet begun.

Thanks,
Matt

Hello mobilesgalore_in1,

We migrated the feedback from Baazee to eBay in 2 phases, as once ratings are migrated to eBay, they cannot be edited.

The reason your ratings cannot be edited is because they got migrated before the editing on Baazee.

Sanjay

halwawala_in1,

Hi and thank you for the suggestions. With the new policy coming live later this year, if a seller completed the unpaid item process without a response from the buyer, the comment will no longer be scoring. Removing the comment alltogether was something that we did discuss and debated a lot during the design phases. We eventually concluded that it was better for the marketplace to have the commen remain, even if it no longer counts in the final score.

Hi plusvalue_in1:

When the new policy launches – we will automatically remove any feedback left by a member suspended within 90 days of his registration. This will only apply to members suspended after the launch of the new policy. That is – we will not go back in time for a couple of years. It will only apply going forward.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi halwawala_in1,

I'd like to hear what other members have to say on this topic too. Is it fair if the negative and neutral comments are removed but that the positives remain? We've been discussing this quite a bit during the last several months.

Our rationale is that a member who is suspended within the first 90 days is not a full member of the community. So as they are suspended, the positive, neutral, and negative comments would also be removed. While removing the negatives will please people, it seems unbalanced to not remove the positives as well. I'd like to hear further thoughts and feedback on this issue.

Thank You,
Amjad

Tutorial for negative or neutral feed back should be for all buyer & not just for new, because all buyers are not aware about impact of rating
