Does UPS offer anything besides shipping? Say a Cost Calculator and how can I and my buyer use that.

Ans. Yes, UPS offers the following products and they are located on its web site Please log on to the UPS website - www.ups.com . One can get an approximate idea in terms of the total cost involved in shipping a package. The Cost calculator is also present on this website.

Could you explain the classification of goods in letters, parcels etc and how does the slab system work?

Ans. Letters can be classified as that piece of information or communication from an individual or firm to another individual or firm in the medium or form of paper. Documents ( eg. Annual reports, brochures)can also be part of this classification.

Those packages which are neither letters or documents are deemed as non documents or parcels.

Does UPS provide for insurance as well for high value items?

UPS does provide for insurance of all items, however there is a limit for value pertaining to each package shipped on UPS, it is USD 50000/-.

Thanks for the interest, however it would be important to note that the value of your package should be restricted to USD500 / - per package and the relevant classifications as mentioned earlier in post # 49 are followed.

Hello... Can u specify whether the Gold and Diamond jewelry are accepted by UPS from hyderabad. As when we have contacted other courier companies they are not accepting the Gold items.

Typically there are not many formalities to be carried out in India, but the formalities to be undertaken at the buyer's end for wood and wood products are quite stringent.

For eg. Australia has the most stringent of regulations for import of any wood or plant material ;
Wood and Products made of Wood

Wooden furniture and products (including pallets/castings) should be fumigated prior to export and be accompanied by the "Fumigation Certificate" which is provided by the fumigation inspector, to avoid delays. The Fumigation Certificate should be included with other shipping documentation. All items made of wood, cane, bamboo and rattan imported into Australia must undergo quarantine checks, which could mean 1-2 additional days delay.
