Hello Everybody,

Summer months are the ones that witness the highest amount of sales for apparels, shoes and other accessories.

eBay staff members will be conducting a workshop where they will be discussing the hot in demand items and product line and new opportunities in Apparel & Accessories category at the onset of summers. They will also like to discuss on how to make effective listings and tapping the international market.

The workshop is scheduled on Wednesday, 20th April, from 3 - 4.

Regarding Garmentmall_in1 observation-

Indian ethnic dresses with a wide variety of style requires custom Stitching.... we need 21 measurements to stitch even a best fit Salwar kameez leave aside bridals and other complicated dresses.... We are listing on Ebay as Small Large M XL and XXL... with standard fittings..chart at bottom of description.... we need a custom measurement form integrated into Ebay if JUSTICE is to be done to the prospective customers..... I have it on my own site but I am afraid to name the site as it may be against your policies

1. Brands on Discount:

Why Brands:

• Brands are the most searched words on the site especially in Men’s apparel.
• Brands like- Arrow, wrangler, provogue, tamrind, Peter England, van heusen etc. do very well. Also brands which do not have very good distribution can do well
• Brands do well as buyers are assured of the size and the quality they are getting. Also they can compare the discount from the retail market.

Where to source from:

• Try to get inventory from the huge sale these brands keep organizing to liquidate there stocks, buy from there and sell on site
• You can also look for sources for export surplus, which is very quality and design but hugely discounted.
• Brand surplus and retail sale can be looked at to procure inventory.

2. Lots

Why Lots:

• Lots give buyers a huge value addition and increases the ASP for you
• Buyers see value as shipping cost decreases
• There are lot buyers who are looking at products to buy from the site and then either resell locally or on the site itself.

• It is a great value for you as you are able to liquidate higher inventory and faster.
• Selling in lots helps you to afford listing upgrades which in turn increases the chance to sell and get higher price in auctions
• There is lot of export trade opportunity in lots.

How to avail of the promotion?:• List through lots in SYI- Use the option of selling in lots, Or give keywords like- pack, lot in title

3. Shoes

Why shoes:

• There are lot of searches for sports/ athlete and casual shoes.
• They are searched by young individuals and are hard to find offline. Our site profile is also of young male buyers thus it makes sense.
• It has been huge success in other international sites. USA alone has tens of thousands listings

• They are generally high in perceived value and thus can give you higher profit margins
• Offline trends show that there is poor distribution for smart casual and discounted sports shoes. There is high price differential in smaller cities.
• There is high likelihood of repeat purchase as per capita consumption of shoes has increased.

Where to source from:

• Look at factory outlets or second and lot sales sales.
• Try to source from importers who are offering high fashion casual shoes.



4. Indian ethnic wear for Cross Border Trade(CBT)
Why CBT:• With we now becoming eBay, you have excess to lillions eBay buyers who are looking for India products
• 100s of Indian sellers are already listing on .com site and selling India specialty products. Today there are more saris listed on US site than on Indian site which proves that there is huge demand.
• Apparel is the top export category for India

What does well:• Products that are doing well- saris, salwar, kurta, kurti, handbags, other ethnic products.
• Sellers on .in who have chosen international shipping option are already receiving orders and enquiries.
• We are attracting lot of NRI population abroad which wants to buy products directly from India.

Dear Seller,

I will encourage all of you to build your inventory in the product lines just mentioned. We have observed that either these categories are doing extremely well on the site already and have huge scope to sell or there is a latent demand for them. Latent demand means that people are searching for these products but are not finding any listings. We believe that listing in these categories will certainly increase business.
