I did a bank to bank transfer of the money (Rs 15150/-) the next day. His account is in IndusInd Bank, chandigarh. Until that time, the seller was very much in contact with me. He responds to my email, chats with me in Yahoo chat etc.,
AFter he got the money, he said that he will ship the product in 3 day courier and will give me a tracking number. AFter this event he has totally disappeared. I am sending him emails, SMSes daily but he never responds. He is not seen in yahoo chat at all.
I have filed a dispute with ebay in this regard?
Does anyone know about this seller in chandigarh or had prior experience?
Thanks,
L.Sainathan

Opening a dispute is the best thing for this. Hope ebay will help you in this case. ---------------

You have to put a dispute and fight your case strongly with regular follow ups with ebay. I deeply empathise with you. you can also ask your lawyer what can be done coz you have paid by cheque and that is a legal transaction. But, DON'T GIVE UP.

As atulnc1 has rightly mentioned, you can get back only 9950/- net. The problem is more complicated because the seller is no longer registered with ebay. You can also lodge a complain to the cyber crime department. However, the chance of recovery is remote. Its safer not to do such big deals with sellers of so few rating (2).

As far as your this particular experience goes ....you would definately recover most of the money by filling a claim.
The Purchase protection programs do not cover any item paid for using cash or instant money transfer. Bank-to-bank or post office wire transfers (both of which produce receipts with bank account numbers for both buyer and seller) are covered by the eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program.
YOURS IS A BANK-TO-BANK TRANSFER.
For your future buying you must refer to ebay's safe buying tips.
1. Use of EBAY'S guidelines and your common sense will help you trade safely
2. Review a member's eBay reputation - eBay Feedback
3. Get to know your Seller
4. Know what you are buying
5. Pay Smart!
