Dear Achintya,

Hello,

You have been Selling since last 4 years and have a vast experience behind you.

I would like to know your views on two things...

1. What is the best and what is the worst part of ebay?
I mean where is ebay strongest and where does it needs improvement?

2. You have more than 1100 hundred unique positive feedbacks. Do you think that higher feedback helps in Selling better? Or does it just shows the experience behind you and nothing to do with higher sales turn-over?
Also, what charm does a Buyer has, as far as high feedback score is concerned? I mean why should a Buyer be attracted towards a high feedback score? He can buy the Item irrespective of the fact wheather his score is ZERO or 500.

Dear Umangji
No.1: In one sentence I can say,
Best Part of eBay is Reliability
Worst Part of eBay is Customer Support

No. 2: Regarding feedback, I strongly opine that Higher Feedback with a good positive %age( above 95) has a good impact on buyer.

Reliability to the buyer starts from this point.

This higher feedback score may be 100 or 200 or 2000 or more. Also one aspect must be considered in this regard, that is from which area seller has earned this feedback, whether it is from selling wallpaper or from high cost digicam. I am sure, when purchase buyer checks some feedback comments and related products. I did the same when I go for purchase.
Similar case for buyer also. When a buyer with 5 or above feedback score, placed an order or bid my product, I became sure about the fulfillment of that transaction smoothly.

Dear essech

Sale can’t boost overnight. Assume you have open a merchandize shop in a crowdie market. What you should do to boost your sale?

1. You have to quote the product price lowest in the market obviously without compromising the quality and service, I want to mean you have to start selling with a low profit margin.

2. You have to provide good customer support.

3. You have to provide some attractive free goodies with every purchase.

4. You have to promote your shop in the market by means of banner, hoardings etc.

5. You have to display your products in the showcase attractively.

6. You have to provide different payment methods, e.g. Cheque, Credit Card, Cash etc.

7. Warranty/Replacement guaranty on the products where applicable.

Etc. etc…… and sure one day your sale will boost.
All of the above are investment for your business.

Similar cases are here in eBay to boost your sale.

In case of point 2, you should have to provide free after sale service to the customer. And delivery, which is most vital part in on-line selling, must be secure and in time.

In case of point 4, you can do the same by using various Enhanced Listing Features provided by eBay.

In case of point 5, you have to keep in mind that customer can’t touch your item, they can only view your products electronically. So, image and description of the product must be exact as what you intend to sale.

Dear Achintya,

Thanks for the reply.

But you haven't answered the last part of my question.

Also, what charm does a Buyer has, as far as high feedback score is concerned? I mean why should a Buyer be attracted towards a high feedback score? He can buy the Item irrespective of the fact wheather his score is ZERO or 500.

By this I meant that why should a Buyer accumulate high Score. Seller gets better sales if his score is HIGH. But a Buyer has no advantage when he accumulates high score. His high score benefits the Seller because as you said that this ensures that the deal would go through.

But the high score to Buyer himself is of NO USE.
He can BID & BUY things at ZERO or at 500 unique ratings.

kindly comment.

Dear essech

Further to your query "How to Boost Sale",

I have checked your listing which are Sarees from Orissa-A unique product in eBay. Why you are not trying to list internationally? It has huge demand in International Market. I am sure your sale will boost. Initially you can try with 5 best Sarees.

Dear Umangji

Feedback score is equally important to a buyer. Both buyer and seller are unknown to each other. Feedback Score is the one of the main identifications for the both. Yes I am agreed with you that buyer won’t get any economical benefit with his feedback directly, but it helps the buyer to show his genuineness to the seller. And a genuine buyer always gets preference from the seller. Hope you will agree with me.

Yet I am giving you an example:

I think you can remember one buyer named: Yoshobont Patnaik from Bhubaneswar(Orissa), he is also a voice member. He had placed one order some 2.5 years back with Off-line payment. I sent the product immediately without receiving the payment as at that time his feedback score was above 80. As usual I received payment very next day. That is also Rs. 500/- extra by mistake, which I had refunded later. I know this is not the exact process of a business. But it happens. And so many sellers did the same like me. Now you tell me whats the reason behind this? Is it not due to feedback score?

Achintya
