IN The form of applying for IEC code, I find that one has to mention

VAT Reg. NO.

Excise Reg. No.

Is it compulsory? Also please let me know whether DGFT team will vist our home before giving IEC CODE.

I applied for IE Code many years ago.... but I think VAT or EXCISE number is not compulsory.

Neither do DGFT team visit your home.

Hi,

Every business / export do not come under the purview of Excise or even VAT. So if anyone does not have those it can never cause any hindrance in issuance of IEC no. by DGFT. DGFT conducts visits mainly for manufacturing or major sales related registrations. For minor operators they do not make any visit, though they can if they want. I got my IEC no. 2 years back but do not think much have changed. .
