EMS tracking showing "Handed over to customs"

Hi Guys
I lived in India and i purchased a pair of soccer boot on ebay.com from a seller from china and this is my tracking status:

So can anyone please kindly tell me "handed over to customs" is a normal procedure or there is a problem.
The seller has marked the item as gift and its value as 40$ but the real value is 160$.Does gift item required an invoice?

I bought Sony Headphones from eBay.com. The seller sent the item on 16 December 2014. And the item reached Customs on 19. And is still stuck there. Seller was from Japan. The item coat me around $336.90 (Rs 21700 approx) What should I do? To whom should I approach. What will be the custom charges? If any. Please tell me fast.

My courier worth $6600 was under customs custody for more than 3 months,its tax and duties was akready paid,that was a gift item so it mentioned as no commercial value now customs asking to convert it into cargo mode which needs somany papers regarding purchase but i dont have anything bcoz its a gift item and i asked DHL to return it but they told me customs will decide to destroy it,put it in auction or to return it,and i want to know what they actually do.

Please let me know if it was an Import or Export Consignment.

1. Whether it was Import or Export?
2. What was the commodity?
3. Was it EMS or DHL? Because you have mentioned EMS in title and DHL in the subject matter?
4. Was it imported or exported under a firm's name?
5. Do you have an IEC?
6. Does the importer or exporter have a valid license for export/import?
7. How was the remittance made? PayPal? Bank? W/U?

I will be able to help you once you provide the above information truthfully without concealing anything.

Hi Devesh,

I am planning to start a small business wherein I shall buy some stuff from China in small quantities and then will sell in my uncle's store in India. Now shipping from China is free but they send through China Post and EMS. Most of these shipments they get stuck in Customs. 

You mentioned you have an Agent who can get such shipments cleared. Can you please share the details of your agent. Would really appreciate your help.

How can we track a package if it is with the customs? Does the customs department have a Web page to answer about the packages under their possession or custody??
